Les frères Ishizaki visent un doublé historique au tournoi d’automne (aki basho)
The Ishizaki brothers are aiming for a historic double at the Autumn tournament (aki basho)
Asakoryu et Asasuiryu (photo, de droite à gauche) s'apprêtent à entrer dans l'histoire du sumo : ils formeront la quatorzième fratrie à évoluer simultanément en Makuuchi lors du tournoi d'automne.
Leur ambition ? Décrocher chacun un prix spécial (sansho). Un doublé familial inédit depuis 1992, époque où les légendaires Wakanohana et Takanohana avaient réalisé pareil exploit.
Sur le dohyo, la préparation bat son plein depuis la publication du banzuke. Malgré des pépins physiques accumulés à Nagoya en juillet, Asa-K affiche une belle énergie lors des exercices fondamentaux :
Mon dos et mon genou droit vont nettement mieux.
Son frère Asa-S met lui aussi l'accent sur les déplacements de base (suriashi). Blessé au visage lors d'un entraînement, il garde le sourire malgré ses huit points de suture :
On me les retire aujourd'hui, tout va bien. Mon but reste le kachi-koshi. Avec dix victoires, on décroche souvent un trophée : je vais tout donner.

Their ambition? For each of them to win a special prize (sansho). A family double not seen since 1992, when the legendary Wakanohana and Takanohana achieved the same feat. On the dohyo, preparations have been in full swing since the publication of the banzuke. Despite a series of physical setbacks in Nagoya in July, Asa-K is showing great energy during the basic drills:
My back and my right knee are feeling much better.
His brother Asa-S also emphasises basic footwork (suriashi). Having sustained a facial injury during training, he keeps smiling despite his eight stitches:
They’re taking them out today; everything’s fine. My goal is still the kachi-koshi. With ten wins, you often win a trophy: I’m going to give it my all.
