Spring tour 2026
En avril, les rikishi repartent sur les routes du Japon à la rencontre des fans. Au total, ils visiteront 27 villes à travers 17 préfectures réparties dans trois régions de l’archipel.
In April, the rikishi set off on the roads of Japan again to meet the fans. In total, they will visit 27 cities across 17 prefectures in three regions of the archipelago.

On agite aujourd’hui le clap de fin pour cette tournée de printemps 2026 !
Kotoeiho a présenté le chonmage quelques minutes avant la démonstration d’Hoshoryu pour sa corde blanche. Tatsuosho a conclu la journée avec le yumitori-shiki.
Gonoyama a combattu le plus avec 23 matchs et termine à 16-7. Sur le podium, on retrouve Hiradoumi (19) puis Ura (17).
Je ne me sens pas encore prêt, mais je voulais profiter qu’on soit tous réunis pour affronter le plus de personnes avant qu’on se sépare pour se préparer au tournoi.
Héros local, Tochitaikai était très ému de retrouver "son" public (photo). Il n’était pas revenu depuis sa sortie du collège, et c’est ici qu’il avait remporté son titre de yokozuna scolaire en 2014. On l’a vu s’entraîner avec Kotozakura.
Fujiryoga fait un bilan très positif de l’expérience du jungyo. Il avoue son inquiétude quand on lui avait dit fin mars qu’il ne pourrait pas rentrer chez lui, mais la rencontre avec les fans lui a fait changer d’avis et il est maintenant heureux d’y avoir participé.
Hoshoryu est lui aussi satisfait de ces quatre semaines. Il pense avoir rempli son rôle de Grand champion et se sent soulagé de ne pas en sortir blessé.
Mon corps a bien réagi contre toutes les attaques, à présent on doit se concentrer sur la compétition à Tokyo.
Et oui, ce soir tout le monde rentre à la capitale et attend impatiemment que le banzuke sorte demain ! Le groupe va parcourir approx. 33 km vers le sud-est pour y parvenir.

Today we are at the end of this spring 2026 tour!
Kotoeiho presented the chonmage a few minutes before Hoshoryu's demonstration for his white rope. Tatsuosho concluded the day with the yumitori-shiki.
Gonoyama fought the most with 23 matches and finished at 16-7. On the podium, we find Hiradoumi (19) and Ura (17).
I don't feel ready yet, but I wanted to take advantage that we were all together to face as many people as possible before we split up to prepare for the tournament.
As the local hero, Tochitaikai was very moved to see "his" audience again (pictured). He hadn't been back since leaving college, and it was here that he won his school yokozuna title in 2014. We saw him training with Kotozakura.
Fujiryoga has a very positive assessment of the jungyo experience. He admits his concern when he was told at the end of March that he would not be able to return home, but meeting the fans changed his mind and he is now happy to have participated.
Hoshoryu is also satisfied with these four weeks. He thinks he has fulfilled his role as Grand Champion and feels relieved not to come out injured.
My body has reacted well against all the attacks, now we must focus on the competition in Tokyo.
Indeed, tonight everyone is going back to the capital and is impatiently waiting for the banzuke to come out tomorrow! The group will travel approx. 33 km to the southeast to get there.

Il se fait discret pendant la tournée, mais Kotozakura continue son entraînement avec des matchs principalement contre Atamifuji et Gonoyama. L’ozeki est confiant pour le tournoi de mai et vise un objectif bien précis : le voyage à Paris en juin !
N’ayant pas pu participer à l’événement de Londres en octobre, je ne veux pas manquer cette occasion de découvrir la capitale de la gastronomie ! Tout ceux qui partaient en Angleterre me parlent encore maintenant de cette expérience, on ne la vivra peut-être jamais plus…
Kirishima avait du retard aujourd’hui, il n’était pas dans le bus avec ses camarades hier soir car il est rentré à Tokyo pour fêter son anniversaire en famille. Samedi après-midi, il a présenté son fils de 8 mois pendant le dohyo-iri avant quelques photos avec les spectateurs.
Demain, ce sera la conclusion de ce périple aprilin à Iruma-shi, Saitama. Il y a approx. 1,3 heure et 86 km de route au nord-est pour y arriver.

He kept a low profile during the tour, but Kotozakura continues his training with bouts mainly against Atamifuji and Gonoyama. The ozeki is confident about the May tournament and has his sights set on a very specific goal: the Paris trip in June!
I couldn’t participate in the London event in October; I don't want to miss this opportunity to discover the capital of gastronomy! Everyone who went to England still talks to me about this experience; we may never live it again...
Kirishima was late today; he was not on the bus with his mates last night because he returned to Tokyo to celebrate his birthday with his family. On Saturday afternoon, he presented his 8-month-old son during the dohyo-iri before taking some photos with the spectators.
Tomorrow will be the conclusion of this April journey in Iruma-shi, Saitama. It is approx. 1.3 hours and 86 km northeast to get there.

Aujourd’hui, ils étaient deux pour démontrer le chonmage : Atamifuji et le héros local Abi. Ils étaient accompagnés quelques instants plus tôt par Daieisho, un autre natif de la région.
Beaucoup de personnes étaient surprises de voir que Nishikifuji est de retour ! Son cou "va bien" cependant il perçoit de plus en plus d’engourdissement au niveau des jambes…
Les fans étaient également ravis de constater la rentrée de Fujinokawa. Son mal de dos s’est apaisé, il a d’ailleurs enchaîné huit matchs intensifs à l’entraînement.
Kirishima fête ses 30 ans vendredi en se confrontant au yokozuna pour huit rencontres dont certaines ressemblaient plus au bökh mongol, mais ils n’ont pas réussi à se départager (4-4). L’ozeki a ensuite enchaîné contre Hiradoumi et Kotoeiho.
De son côté, Tobizaru soufflait sa trente-quatrième bougie, mais le "roi singe" se sent physiquement toujours comme un adolescent 😋. Pour le tournoi de mai, il veut totaliser au minimum 8 points afin de ne pas tomber encore plus bas dans le classement (à Osaka il était Maegashira 13 mais a finit sur une note de 6-9…).
On reviendra en Saitama dimanche pour la finale du voyage aprilin, mais le groupe sera demain à Funabashi-shi, dans la préfecture de Chiba. Il leur faut moins d’une heure et approx. 50 km à parcourir au sud-est pour y arriver.

Today, there were two to demonstrate the chonmage: Atamifuji and the local hero Abi. They were accompanied moments earlier by Daieisho, another native of the region.
Many people were surprised to see that Nishikifuji is back! His neck is "fine" however, he perceives more numbness in his legs...
Fans were also delighted to see Fujinokawa's return. His spinal pain has eased, and he has played eight intensive bouts in training.
Kirishima celebrates his thirtieth birthday on Friday by facing the yokozuna for eight matches, some of which were more like the Mongolian bökh, but they did not manage to separate themselves (4-4). The ozeki then followed up against Hiradoumi and Kotoeiho.
For his part, Tobizaru blew out his thirty-fourth candle, but the "monkey king" still feels physically like a teenager 😋. For the May tournament, he wants to total at least 8 points so as not to fall even lower in the rankings (in Osaka he was ranked Maegashira 13 but finished with a score of 6-9...).
We will return to the Saitama area on Sunday for the final of the April trip, but the group will be tomorrow in Funabashi-shi, in the Chiba prefecture. It takes them less than an hour and approx. 50 km to go southeast to get there.

Depuis le début de la tournée, le directeur Yamahibiki a choisi de superviser les entraînements de Kotoeiho notamment sur la position accroupie et les exercices de shiko [NDLR, tendre la jambe et la lever le plus haut possible avant de frapper le sol].
En quelques semaines, le mouvement de mes cuisses a gagné en ampleur. La hauteur des hanches a aussi changé, j’ai l’impression d’être un autre homme maintenant.
Oho était le héros local aujourd’hui. De l’accueil du public à la séance avec les enfants, il a participé à la plupart des activités avant de travailler principalement avec Atamifuji.
Oshoma reçoit chaque jour des conseils de son mentor Naruto-oyakata. Lorsqu’on l’interroge sur son état d’esprit pour la compétition à venir, il répond être très serein et vise les 10+ victoires – un score qu’il n’a pas obtenu en douze mois…
Demain, on sera déjà à la veille de la conclusion du voyage aprilin. Le groupe partira pour Saitama-shi, dans la préfecture éponyme (approx. 55 minutes et 48 km au nord-est).

Since the beginning of the tour, director Yamahibiki has chosen to supervise Kotoeiho's training, particularly on the squatting position and shiko exercises [Editor's note: stretching your leg out and raising it as high as possible before hitting the ground].
Within a few weeks, the movement of my thighs gained momentum. The hip height has also changed, I feel like a different man now.
Oho was the local hero today. From welcoming the public to the session with the children, he participated in most of the activities before working mainly with Atamifuji.
Oshoma received advice from his mentor Naruto-oyakata every day. When asked about his state of mind for the upcoming competition, he replies that he is very serene and is aiming for 10+ wins – a score he has not achieved in twelve months...
Tomorrow will already be on the eve of the conclusion of the April trip. The group will depart for Saitama-shi, in the eponymous prefecture (approx. 55 minutes and 48 km to the northeast).

Kotoshoho était l’un des grands noms à surveiller aujourd’hui. Après sept matchs pendant l’entraînement matinal notamment contre Ura, il se sent prêt à intégrer la san’yaku pour le tournoi de mai.
Takadagawa-oyakata, le responsable de la tournée, est très satisfait de lui :
Chaque jour, il nous demande de regarder ses combats pour qu’on déniche la moindre faiblesse, qu’il corrige immédiatement.
Depuis plusieurs jours, Fujiryoga semble plus nerveux que d’habitude, sans doute car il est observé attentivement par son directeur Fujishima. Entre deux séances, les spectateurs pouvaient voir Hoshoryu lui donner quelques conseils.
Demain, le groupe n’a qu’une petite heure et approx. 34 km à parcourir vers le nord-est de la préfecture de Tokyo pour rejoindre Fuchu-shi.

Kotoshoho was one of the big names to watch today. After seven bouts during the morning training, notably against Ura, he feels ready to join the san'yaku for the May tournament.
Takadagawa-oyakata, the tour manager, is very satisfied with him:
Every day, he’s asking to examine his efforts so that we can find the slightest weakness, which he corrects immediately.
For several days, Fujiryoga seems more nervous than usual, probably because he is being “spied” attentively by his director Fujishima. Between two sessions, spectators were able to see Hoshoryu giving him some advice.
Tomorrow, the group only has a little hour and approx. 34 km to the northeast of Tokyo Prefecture to reach Fuchu-shi.

Ura a été le plus "productif" aujourd’hui avec une série de 27 combats ! Il veut oublier les deux tournois du début de l’année qu’il a conclu à 4-11 et 5-10.
Plusieurs de ces adversaires ce matin étaient impressionnés de voir Ura autant actif, Asanoyama par exemple pensait à voix haute…
S’il se bat en mai avec autant d’ardeur que dans cette tournée, il sera un adversaire redoutable pendant la compétition.
Derrière la "panthère rose des dohyo", Asakoryu a fait une vingtaine de matchs. Bien qu’il se soit fatigué trop vite dans la première partie, il n’a pas relâché ses efforts en se confrontant à des plus gros gabarits que lui (Oho, Atamifuji et Hiradoumi).
Tomokaze a intégré le groupe mardi, sur les conseils de son directeur Nakamura-oyakata. Il se justifie non pas par l’enthousiasme qu'il porte envers le public, mais plutôt pour "ne pas creuser plus loin le trou d’absentéisme des sekitori".
Demain, ce sera le deuxième jour en Tokyo. Il faut seulement 40 minutes pour traverser les 27 km au sud de la préfecture direction Ota-ku.

Ura was the most "productive" today with a series of 27 fights! He wants to forget the two earlier tournaments that he concluded at 4-11 and 5-10.
Several of his opponents this morning were impressed to see Ura so active, Asanoyama for example was thinking out loud...
If he battles as hard in May as he did on this tour, he will be a tough opponent during the competition.
Behind the "pink panther of the dohyo", Asakoryu has played about twenty matches. Although he got tired too quickly in the first half, he did not relax his efforts by facing bigger guys than him (Oho, Atamifuji and Hiradoumi).
Tomokaze joined the group on Tuesday on the advice of his director Nakamura-oyakata. He justified it not by his enthusiasm towards the spectators, but rather to "not dig further into the hole of lack of the sekitori".
Tomorrow will be the second day in Tokyo. It takes only 40 minutes to cross the 27 km south of the prefecture to Ota-ku.

Asanoyama a repris le “vrai" entraînement aujourd’hui en faisant une douzaine de matchs notamment contre Oho.
L’ancien ozeki est très déçu des ses résultats depuis le début 2026 (9-6 à Tokyo et 8-7 à Osaka), mais il reste concentré sur son objectif d’un retour en san’yaku avant la fin de l’année.
Hiradoumi fête aujourd’hui son vingt-sixième anniversaire, il se sent prêt pour le tournoi de mai pendant lequel il veut battre un yokozuna. Très peu de rikishi lui ont souhaité car ils ne connaissaient pas la date, contrairement à une grande partie du public.
Demain, le groupe entamera une escale de trois jours dans la préfecture de Tokyo. Ils vont parcourir approx. 70 km vers le sud-est pour arriver dans Adachi-ku.

Asanoyama returned to "real" training today by playing a dozen bouts, including against Oho.
The former ozeki is very disappointed with his results since the beginning of 2026 (9-6 in Tokyo and 8-7 in Osaka), but he remains focused on his goal of a return to san'yaku before the end of the year.
Hiradoumi is celebrating his twenty-sixth birthday today, he feels ready for the May tournament during which he wants to beat a yokozuna. Very few rikishi wished him because they didn't know the date, unlike a large part of the audience.
Tomorrow, the group will begin a three-day stopover in Tokyo prefecture. They will glance approx. 70 km to the southeast to arrive in Adachi-ku.

Wakanosho est le héros local aujourd’hui, il a travaillé avec Hoshoryu mais n’a réussi qu’à battre le yokozuna qu’une seule fois sur leurs 8 matchs.
Le disciple de Minatogawa-beya a ensuite affronté d’autres sekitori pour finir la matinée avec un score total de 5-8.
Ici, on n’est qu’à l’entraînement et en exhibition, le résultat n’est pas important mais c’est plutôt la technique que l’on doit surveiller. Si je réussis mes tachi-ai et que j’ai l’avantage pendant les combats officiels à Tokyo, la plus grosse tâche sera accomplie.
De manière générale, la fatigue se ressent de plus en plus. Il n’y aura que deux semaines entre le retour à la capitale et le début de la compétition d’été, mais la plupart des rikishi auront très peu de temps pour se préparer dans les meilleures conditions. Seront-ils prêts à temps ?
Demain, on retourne en Ibaraki pour la troisième et dernière fois de ce périple aprilin. Le groupe doit donc parcourir approx. 76 km au sud pour rejoindre Ishioka-shi.

Les héros locaux aujourd’hui sont Daieisho et Abi. Ils ont animé la séance du Q&A avec Wakamotoharu avant que D. soit appelé pour le chonmage.
Pendant ce temps, un autre personnage attirait l’attention dans les couloirs : Oyama-oyakata fka Hokutofuji ! L’ancien komusubi faisait la promotion de sa cérémonie de retraite fin mai.
Après une semaine de "repos", Kotozakura a repris l’entraînement ce matin et veut profiter au maximum des derniers jours de la tournée pour se préparer au tournoi de mai :
Sortir 10 victoires en compétition est tout juste acceptable pour un ozeki, je veux plus !
De son côté, Kirishima a inscrit huit points sur 12 contre Fujiseiun. Le champion d’Osaka a reconnu que son adversaire se défendait très bien malgré sa condition physique (le nez s’est remis à saigner…).
Demain, on part à Utsunomiya-shi en Tochigi. Il y a approx. 1:45 heure de route et 130 km à parcourir vers le nord pour y arriver.

In the same time, another person attracted attention in the corridors: Oyama-oyakata fka Hokutofuji! The former komusubi was promoting his upcoming retirement ceremony.
After a week of "rest", Kotozakura resumed training this morning and wants to make the most of the last days of the tour to prepare for the May tournament:
Coming out with 10 wins in competition is just acceptable for an ozeki, I want more!
Kirishima scored eight of 12 points against Fujiseiun. The Osaka champion admitted that his opponent was defending very well despite his physical condition (the nose started bleeding again...).
Tomorrow, we will go to Utsunomiya-shi in Tochigi. There are approx. 1:45 hour drive and 130 km to travel north to get there.

Pour le keiko, Hoshoryu a choisi de travailler essentiellement avec Fujiryoga. Le disciple de Fujishima-beya n’a malheureusement pas été très performant face au yokozuna qui l’envoyait au sol à chaque fois que FujiR tentait une attaque…
De son côté, Asasuiryu était plus "productif" devant Tobizaru en rivalisant à 3-3 sous les yeux de son frère Asakoryu.
Pendant toute la matinée, Takayasu a continué son rôle de "docteur" envers la plupart des sekitori, mais aussi d’autres rikishi voire quelques spectateurs. Au moment de la pause repas, il n’a cessé de jouer avec le chien d’un couple.
Demain, le groupe sera à Tokorozawa-shi en Saitama. Il leur faut approx. 1,5 heure de route et 130 km au sud-ouest pour y arriver.

For the keiko, Hoshoryu chose to work mainly with Fujiryoga. The disciple of Fujishima-beya unfortunately did not perform very well against the yokozuna who sent him to the ground every time FujiR tried an attack...
For his part, Asasuiryu was more "productive" against Tobizaru by competing at 3-3 under the eyes of his brother Asakoryu.
Throughout the morning, Takayasu continued his role as "doctor" to most of the sekitori, but also to other rikishi and even some spectators. During the lunch break, he kept playing with a couple's dog.
Tomorrow, the group will be in Tokorozawa-shi in Saitama. They need approx. 1.5 hours drive and 130 km southwest to get there.

Depuis lundi, plusieurs personnes s’interrogeaient sur le fait de voir beaucoup de petits tournois pour la dernière partie de la tournée.
Le responsable Takadagawa-oyakata a répondu qu’il avait choisi cette option à cause du taux d’absentéisme important (trente pourcent !), c’est un moyen sûr d’animer les journées en dehors des torikumi habituels.
Ura était le "cobaye" jeudi pour le chonmage. Pour la séance du Q&A, les fans ont pu interagir avec Atamifuji, Oho et Tobizaru.
Nous avons aussi appris le retour de Fujiseiun, qui a dû subir une opération du nez après la compétition d’Osaka. Il était opposé à Asanoyama pour les matchs d’exhibition après un léger entraînement matinal.
Demain, on retourne en Ibaraki pour visiter Kasama-shi. Le groupe doit faire approx. le même trajet qu’hier mais en sens inverse (la ville se trouve à une soixantaine de km au nord de Kashima-shi).

Since Monday, many people have been wondering about seeing a lot of small tournaments for the last part of the tour.
The manager Takadagawa-oyakata replied that he had chosen this option because of the high absenteeism rate (thirty percent!), it is a sure way to liven up the days beside the usual torikumi.
Ura was the "guinea pig" on Thursday for the chonmage. For the Q&A session, fans were able to interact with Atamifuji, Oho and Tobizaru.
We also learned of the return of Fujiseiun, who had to undergo nose surgery after the Osaka competition. He was set against Asanoyama for the exhibition bouts after a light morning practice.
Tomorrow, we will return to the Ibaraki prefecture to visit Kasama-shi. The group must make approx. the same path as yesterday but in the opposite direction (the city is about sixty km north of Kashima-shi).

Le programme de ce milieu de semaine était encore différent des autres jours : huit lutteurs Maegashira se sont affrontés dans un petit tournoi au milieu du torikumi.
Tobizaru était chargé de présenter le chonmage avant Hoshoryu et la corde blanche. On a aussi remarqué que plusieurs rikishi de Makushita ont eu deux matchs pour "boucher les trous" dus aux absences…
Dans la matinée, les officiels ont communiqué le certificat médical de Fujinokawa, qui s’est retiré de la tournée dimanche soir : le jeune homme souffre d’une hernie discale qui pourrait l’éloigner de la compétition de mai.
Demain, nous retournons en Kanagawa pour visiter Yokohama-shi. Il faut approx. 1:45 heure et 140 km de route en direction du sud-ouest pour y arriver.

The program of this midweek was still different from the other days: eight Maegashira wrestlers competed in a small tournament in the middle of the torikumi.
Tobizaru oversaw the chonmage before Hoshoryu and his white rope arrived. We also noticed that several Makushita rikishi had two bouts to "fill the blanks" due to the many absences...
In the morning, officials released the medical certificate of Fujinokawa, who withdrew from the tour on Sunday evening: the young man suffers from a herniated disc that could keep him away from the May competition.
Tomorrow, we will return to Kanagawa to visit Yokohama-shi. It takes approx. 1:45 hours and 140 km drive southwest to get there.

On commence cette nouvelle semaine avec un bref retour à Tokyo.
Les rikishi de la Makuuchi ont posé dans la matinée pour une photo commémorative aux côtés des deux tate-gyoji. Tout le monde était d’humeur joyeuse, on a vu par exemple les anciens ozeki essayer de reprendre leur place auprès des yokozuna 😁.
Avant les torikumi, Onosato a informé Takadagawa-oyakata (responsable des tournées) qu’il arrêtait son voyage ici afin de reposer son épaule qui lui joue encore des tours… On apprend aussi que Fujinokawa s’est blessé au cou et qu’il renonce à la fin du circuit.

C’est une tradition au sanctuaire Yasukuni, chaque lutteur doit écrire ses vœux avant de les accrocher à des lanternes. Oshoma désire ressentir le moins de douleurs possible, Hoshoryu recherche le courage, etc.
Le mongol a d’ailleurs mentionné que "la fête est finie" : Il veut s’entraîner sérieusement pour le tournoi de mai à partir de mercredi dans l’objectif d’obtenir un premier trophée avec la corde blanche !
Le groupe fera une pause demain afin de parcourir les 102 km qui les séparent de Kashima-shi en Ibaraki. Il leur faut approx. 1,5 heure de route à l’est pour y arriver.

We start this new week with a brief return to Tokyo.
The Makuuchi rikishi posed in the morning for a commemorative photo alongside the two tate-gyoji. Everyone was in a happy mood, we saw for example the former ozeki trying to take back their place with the yokozuna 😁.
Before the torikumi, Onosato informed Takadagawa-oyakata (tour manager) that he was stopping his journey here to rest his shoulder which is still playing tricks on him... We also learned that Fujinokawa had injured his neck and that he withdraws today.
The spectators discovered Fujiryoga and Fujitensei with their first chonmage! Fujishima-beya's two stablemates tried to tie it at the end of March, but their hair was not long enough. It was only this weekend that they made their decision.
It is a tradition at Yasukuni shrine, each wrestler must write their wishes before hanging them on lanterns. Oshoma desires to feel as little pain as possible, Hoshoryu seeks courage, etc.

Trois hommes présentaient aujourd’hui le chonmage : Fujinokawa, Hiradoumi et Sadanoumi. Hoshoryu et Tatsuosho étaient également de retour pour leur démonstration respective.
Après Fujiryoga, Kirishima a décidé de travailler dimanche avec Wakanosho pour sept matchs (6-1). Malgré les courbatures, l’ozeki sort de l’exercice très impressionné par les capacités du disciple de Minatogawa.
Je pense que beaucoup d’entre nous disent la même chose, Wakanosho me rappelle Takakeisho quand il était actif. Tous les deux, on n’a pas réussi à se départager dans notre rivalité (9-9), j’espère qu’avec son élève on pourra le faire sur une longue période.
Demain, le groupe reviendra à Tokyo pour un petit tournoi cérémonial au sanctuaire Yasukini. Il leur faut approx. 123 km et 1,5 heure de route au sud-est pour y parvenir.

La journée était un peu spéciale pour débuter le weekend car la Makuuchi a réalisé un petit tournoi au lieu du torikumi habituel, il fallait marquer la trente-et-unième visite de la JSA.
Les deux yokozuna ont également présenté leur dohyo-iri. Tatsuosho (Tatsunami-beya) a conclu l’événement avec son yumitori-shiki.
Kirishima a essentiellement travaillé avec Fujiryoga aujourd’hui (13 matchs, 10-3). Son dos lui a posé quelques problèmes la semaine dernière "à cause" de Wakamotoharu qui l’assistait pour des squats, mais il va mieux à présent. L’ozeki veut s’entraîner le plus possible avec les jeunes sekitori afin de comprendre et exploiter leur vitesse dans les mouvements.
La bonne humeur était toujours là : quelques fans ont pu voir par exemple Asanoyama se "bagarrer" avec le yobidashi Kumajiro pour la coupelle d’eau 🤣.
Le stand de glaces était lui aussi très prisé : plus de 2'000 barquettes ont été vendues dans la matinée seulement ! Les gérants ont dû afficher un panneau de rupture de stock pendant plusieurs heures avant de rouvrir.
Le groupe a plié bagages dans la soirée pour rejoindre Takasaki-shi, en Gunma. Il leur faut approx. deux heures pour parcourir 155 km au nord.

The day was a bit special to start the weekend because the Makuuchi held a small tournament instead of the usual torikumi, it was mandatory to mark the thirty-first visit of the JSA.
The two yokozuna also presented their dohyo-iri. Tatsuosho (Tatsunami-beya) concluded the event with his yumitori-shiki.
Kirishima mainly worked with Fujiryoga today (13 games, 10-3). His back affected him last week "because" of Wakamotoharu assisting him with squats, but he is better now. The ozeki wants to train as much as possible with the young sekitori to understand and exploit their speed in movements.
The good mood was still there: some fans could see Asanoyama "fighting" with the yobidashi Kumajiro for the cup of water 🤣.

Les seize prochaines étapes dans la région du Kanto seront sans doute très éprouvantes car, à l’exception de deux dates et une pause mardi prochain, les rikishi feront beaucoup d’allers-retours entre les préfectures…
Le héros local aujourd’hui est Takanosho ! Notre "onigiri-seki" a été très sollicité par les fans avant de démontrer le chonmage.
Toute la matinée, les spectateurs ont remarqué l’entraînement intensif de Takayasu (photo). Le sekiwake n’a pas fait énormément de matchs avant son torikumi contre Kirishima mais ils semblaient interminables.
Mon dos va bien, je ne ressens pas de douleurs depuis le début de la tournée, ce qui est bon signe. Les voyages en bus sont très fatiguant mais on peut bouger aisément.
Tout le monde semblait toujours aussi bienveillant et farceur. Naruto-oyakata par exemple s’amusait à vouloir faire tenir debout les balayettes. Dans un autre coin, Ichiyamamoto restait égal à lui-même en bandant les yeux d’Ura et Hoshoryu plaisantait avec la san’yaku.
Demain, direction Fujisawa-shi en Kanagawa. Le groupe doit parcourir approx. 110 km au sud-ouest (1,5 heure) pour y arriver.

Everyone seemed as kind and trickster as ever. Naruto-oyakata, for example, had fun trying to make the brooms stand upright. In another corner, Ichiyamamoto remained true to himself by blindfolding Ura, and Hoshoryu joked with the san'yaku.
Tomorrow, let's go to Fujisawa-shi in Kanagawa. The group should go around approx. 110 km southwest (1.5 hours) to get there.

À la surprise générale, Onosato s’est impliqué aujourd’hui dans le butsukari en choisissant Oshoumi comme partenaire.
Le héros local Atamifuji a été accueilli chaleureusement par ses fans (photo). Il s’est confronté à Hoshoryu et Kotozakura toute la matinée, marquant seulement 5 points sur 10 dont 1-3 contre le yokozuna...
Oshoma était lui aussi la "vedette" car il célébrait son vingt-neuvième anniversaire ! Hoshoryu l’a appelé pour travailler ensemble avant de lui remettre un gâteau en forme de dohyo avec des photos.
Les deux hommes partagent un passé commun en plus de leur origine mongole : ils ont tous les deux été formés par Asashoryu (oncle paternel de H) qui les a inscrit à l’Université de Tokyo.
Demain, le groupe sera à Narita-shi, en Chiba. Il faut approx. 189 km et 2,5 heures de route au nord-est pour y parvenir.

To everyone's surprise, Onosato got involved in the butsukari today by choosing Oshoumi as his partner.
Local hero Atamifuji was warmly welcomed by his fans (photo). He faced Hoshoryu and Kotozakura all morning, scoring only 5 points out of 10 including 1-3 against yokozuna...
Oshoma was also the "star" because he was celebrating his twenty-ninth birthday! Hoshoryu called him to work together before handing him a cake in the shape of a dohyo with pictures.
The two men share a common past in addition to their Mongolian origins: they were both trained by Asashoryu (H's paternal uncle) who make them signing in at the University of Tokyo.
Tomorrow, the group will be in Narita-shi, Chiba. It takes approx. 189 km and 2.5 hours of driving northeast to get there.

Quelques minutes avant, la séance de Q&A était assurée par Atamifuji, Mitakeumi et le héros local Fujiryoga.
Rakanji (Nishonoseki-beya) a conclu la journée en exécutant le yumitori-shiki.
C’est devenu une habitude depuis quelques temps, le vétéran Tamawashi a déclaré qu’il quittait le jungyo mercredi soir pour se reposer et préparer le tournoi de mai. Une source proche rapporte qu’il veut aussi être en forme pour le voyage à Paris au mois de juin.
Demain, le groupe sera à Mishima-shi en Shizuoka. Il faut voyager approx. 2:45 heures et 210 km à l’est pour y arriver.
Ce sera la dernière étape dans la région du Chubu avant d’attaquer un long périple de SEIZE villes (une seule pause, le mardi 14).

Onosato, un autre natif de la région, a continué sa démonstration de la corde blanche avant que Kamito revienne pour le yumitori-shiki.
Le yokozuna a reçu beaucoup d’encouragement "chez lui", il a dirigé l’entraînement matinal mais reste encore prudent pour épargner son épaule. Il n’a pas encore décidé quand il reprendra les torikumi, mais il souhaite le faire avant la fin de la tournée.
Demain, le groupe fera étape à Anjo-shi, en Aichi. Il leur faut parcourir 250 km vers le sud pour y arriver (approx. 3,5 heures de route).

Onosato a présenté sa corde blanche avant que Mitakeumi et Ura fassent un petit match d’exhibition avant les torikumi.
À l'instar de nombreuses manifestations de ce type, le retour d'expérience des spectateurs reste limité.
Lundi 6 avril, on marquera la première pause de ce périple printanier. Le groupe en profitera alors pour parcourir les 267 km qui les séparent de Komatsu-shi en Ishikawa (approx. 3,5 heures de route à l’est).

À la veille du weekend de Pâques, les spectateurs ont été informés qu’Asahakuryu quitte la tournée à cause d’un mal de dos qui s’intensifie chaque jour…
Concernant les animations, Fujinokawa était chargé de la démonstration du chonmage et Hoshoryu a pris le relais pour la corde blanche. En fin d’après-midi, Rakanji a repris son rôle pour le yumitori-shiki.
Depuis dimanche dernier, Naruto-oyakata (fka Kotooshu) supervise l’entraînement des sekitori et leur prodigue de précieux conseils. Aujourd’hui il a choisi de prendre à part Kotozakura. L’ozeki a travaillé une dizaine de duels contre Hiradoumi, Gonoyama et Oshoma en terminant sur un score de 7-3.
Il ne faut pas pratiquer un sumo où l'on gagne en utilisant la force de l'adversaire tout en reculant pour le projeter. C'est en gagnant par sa propre force que l'on peut obtenir des résultats stables.
À partir de demain, le groupe change de région. Au revoir Kansai ! Il faut approx. quatre heures de route et 324 km au nord pour rejoindre Himi-shi en Toyama (territoire de Chubu).

Seuls les yokozuna ont échangé leur place pour la démonstration de la corde blanche et Kamito était chargé du yumitori-shiki.
Un troisième rikishi de Tatsunami-beya, Kitadaichi (photo), était occupé avec les chants/jinku.
Aonishiki étant absent pour soigner son pied, les torikumi ont tous été décalés. Hoshoryu se retrouve avec Kotozakura, Kirishima est en binôme avec Takayasu, etc…
À la boutique de souvenirs, quelques fans chanceux ont pu être servis dans la matinée par Wakamotoharu et Abi. Les deux sekitori assistaient les responsables en déballant les marchandises, et parfois en "critiquant" le choix des clients 🤣 :

Les rikishi passaient aujourd'hui leur première journée en Hyogo.
Une séance de Q&A était animée par Fujinokawa, Gonoyama et Ura avant que ce dernier présente la démonstration du chonmage.
Onosato a poursuivi avec le nouage de sa corde blanche. La cérémonie du yumitori-shiki était quant à elle assurée par Rakanji (Nishonoseki-beya).
Les spectateurs étaient très excités à l’idée de revoir Kirishima au statut d’ozeki, il est programmé contre Kotozakura pour l’ensemble de cette tournée pendant qu’Aonishiki est annoncé avec Hoshoryu. Cependant, l’ukrainien a déclaré forfait hier soir et est rentré à Tokyo pour soigner son pied qu’il a blessé pendant la dernière compétition.
N’ayant qu’une quarantaine de minutes de route jusqu’à Takarazuka-shi, le groupe a profité de la fin de journée pour passé plus de temps avec les fans.

Gonoyama et Ura, les deux figures locales, ont animé l’entraînement des enfants avant de se confronter aux autres sekitori.
Pendant la tournée, l’objectif du disciple de Takekuma-beya est d’améliorer sa technique face aux san’yaku, un défi qu’il a complètement manqué au dernier tournoi (0-3…).
La route ce soir ne sera pas très longue. En effet, le groupe a moins de 60 km à parcourir vers l’ouest pour rejoindre Kobe-shi en Hyogo.

La tournée de printemps démarre ce dimanche avec le traditionnel petit tournoi du sanctuaire d’Ise.
Avant cela, les yokozuna et la san’yaku sont montés jusqu’au temple pour les dohyo-iri. Les fans qui n’ont pas pu y assister sont restés sous le chapiteau pour regarder l’entraînement des rikishi. C’était l’occasion de voir plusieurs directeurs de club en tenue décontractée, mais aussi de réclamer des autographes auprès d’Asanoyama par exemple.

Fujiryoga participe à sa première tournée. Il ne se soucie guère de sa performance au dernier tournoi, mais souhaite profiter de cette nouvelle expérience pour s’améliorer. "La plupart des visiteurs réunis ici ne peuvent pas venir voir les compétitions, on doit alors leur montrer le meilleur de nous-même."

The spring tour starts this Sunday with the traditional small tournament at the Ise shrine.
Before that, the yokozuna and san'yaku went up to the temple for their dohyo-iri. Fans who couldn't attend stayed under the tent to watch the rikishi training. It was an opportunity to see several stablemasters in casual clothes, but also to ask for autographs from Asanoyama e.g.
Kirishima was publicly introduced as ozeki for the first time in two years: "It brings back good memories, and it moves me to hear everyone chanting my new status. It comforts me in the idea that I worked well."
Fujiryoga is taking part in his first tour. He doesn't care much about his performance at the last tournament, but wants to take advantage of this new experience to improve. "Most of the visitors gathered here can't come and see the competitions, so we have to show them the best of ourselves."
