Au cours du mois d’août, les rikishi entament une tournée à travers l’archipel nippon pour renforcer le lien avec leur communauté. Ce parcours s’étend sur 27 villes, 14 préfectures et trois régions.
During the month of August, the rikishi begin a tour through the Japanese archipelago to strengthen the link with their supporters. This route extends over 27 cities, 14 prefectures and three regions.

La tournée estivale s’achève aujourd’hui 😥.
Juste après les combats des divisions inférieures, Ichiyamamoto et Yoshinofuji sont montés sur le ring pour la présentation de l’oichomage.
Les séquences de jinku et de shokkiri se sont ensuite enchaînées, avant de laisser place à Onosato pour la démonstration de la tsuna et son dohyo-iri.
Le public a également pu assister à trois matchs d’exhibition avant le lancement des torikumi classiques :

Fujinokawa contre Ura,

les deux frères Kotoshoho contre Kotoeiho,
-
et Atamifuji face à Yoshinofuji.
Du côté des entraînements matinaux, Asahakuryu s’est particulièrement illustré face à Kirishima (photo).
Recouvert de sable des pieds à la tête, le rikishi de la Takasago-beya s’est accroché sans relâche, se relevant systé-matiquement, même après de lourdes chutes hors du dohyo.
"J’espérais souvent qu’on me sollicite pour les exercices, mais je n'y croyais plus. J'ai donc été très surpris quand l’ozeki m’a appelé en fin de séance pour qu'on s'affronte."
Ce soir, l'ensemble des lutteurs regagne la capitale pour préparer la sortie du banzuke du tournoi d'automne (Aki basho), dont la publication officielle aura lieu demain matin.

Right after the lower division fights, Ichiyamamoto and Yoshinofuji entered the ring for the presentation of the oichomage.
The jinku and shokkiri sequences then followed one another, before giving way to Onosato for the demonstration of the tsuna and his dohyo-iri.
The public was also treated to three exhibition bouts before the launch of the classic torikumi:

In the morning trainings, Asahakuryu particularly distinguished himself against Kirishima (photo).
Covered in sand from head to toe, the rikishi of the Takasago-beya hung on relentlessly, systematically getting up, even after heavy falls out of the dohyo.
"I often hoped that I would be asked for the exercises, but I didn't believe it anymore. So I was very surprised when the ozeki called me at the end of the session to play against each other."
Tonight, all the wrestlers return to the capital to prepare for the release of the banzuke of the autumn tournament (Aki basho), the official publication of which will take place tomorrow morning.

Le public a assisté à une séquence rythmée par les démonstrations traditionnelles et la présence remarquée des lutteurs locaux.
Entre les affrontements des divisions inférieures et le jinku, Daieisho a réalisé la démonstration de la coiffure traditionnelle oichomage.
L’avant-dernier arrêt du mois d’août s'est poursuivi avec la présentation du nouage de corde et le dohyo-iri d'Onosato, juste après le shokkiri assuré par le duo habituel de la Takasago-beya.
De son côté, l'enfant du pays Mineyaiba (actuel Makushita #34 au sein de la Shikoroyama-beya) s'est illustré dans un torikumi intense face à Kagayaki.
Dès la matinée, Asanoyama a marqué les esprits en concluant sa session d'entraînement sur un bilan de trois victoires pour deux défaites face à Hiradoumi (photo).
Fidèle à sa stratégie, Kotozakura s'est quant à lui abstenu de tout duel avant la deuxième partie de journée.
Ce soir, le groupe prend la direction de la préfecture de Tokyo pour l'ultime étape de ce parcours estival.
Un trajet d'environ 58 kilomètres vers le sud-ouest jusqu'à Tachikawa, estimé à une heure et demie de route.

Spectators were treated to a program packed with traditional demonstrations and strong performances from local favorites.
Between the lower-division bouts and the jinku performance, Daieisho exposed the iconic oichomage topknot styling.
The ring-entering ceremonies continued as Onosato presented the tying of his white rope and performed his dohyo-iri right after the shokkiri comedy, which was once again hosted by the duo from the Takasago stable.
Meanwhile, Mineyaiba (currently Makushita #34 of the Shikoroyama stable) took to the ring against Kagayaki in the torikumi matchups.
Earlier in the morning, Asanoyama made a strong impression by finishing his session with a 3–2 record against Hiradoumi (photo).
Taking a more measured approach, Kotozakura held back from the practice bouts to save his effort for the afternoon.
The tour now heads toward Tokyo Prefecture for the final stage of this summer circuit.
A 58-kilometer journey southwest —roughly a 90-minute drive— will bring the group to Tachikawa.

Les activités ont repris leur rythme habituel aujourd'hui.
Dans la foulée des combats des divisions inférieures, Meisei est entré en piste pour une démonstration du oichomage (coiffure traditionnelle).
Les spectateurs ont ensuite assisté au jinku (chant) puis au shokkiri (comédie), avant la cérémonie d'Onosato, marquée par le nouage de sa corde blanche (tsuna) et son dohyo-iri.
Exceptionnellement invité pour les torikumi, Meisei est revenu sur le dohyo pour affronter Tokihayate. Selon plusieurs observateurs, l'ancien sekiwake pourrait prolonger sa présence jusqu'à dimanche soir afin de pallier l'absence de Fujiryoga, blessé à la main.
Demain, le groupe prendra la direction de Soka, dans la préfecture de Saitama. Il parcourra les 34 kilomètres qui le séparent de la ville située un peu plus au sud, en à peine 40 minutes.

Unlike yesterday, activities resumed their normal pace today.
Following the lower-division bouts, Meisei made an appearance to demonstrate the oichomage (traditional topknot).
The jinku (singing) and shokkiri (comedy) performances then preceded Onosato's ceremony for his white rope (tsuna) and dohyo-iri .
Meisei was also specially invited for the torikumi, facing off Tokihayate. Several observers believe the former sekiwake will stay through Sunday evening to replace Fujiryoga, who suffered a hand injury.
Tomorrow, the group will head to Soka in Saitama Prefecture. It will take just 40 minutes to cover the roughly 34 km south to get there.

La journée s'est ouverte sur une mauvaise nouvelle : blessé à la main lors de son entraînement matinal face à Onosato (photo), Fujiryoga a dû quitter la tournée dès aujourd'hui pour rentrer se faire soigner à Tokyo.
Du côté du yokozuna, le travail continue. Sous le regard attentif de son directeur, Nishonoseki-oyakata, il peaufine ses prises du bras gauche.
L'entraîneur rappelle d'ailleurs l'importance de ce rythme : "Les deux semaines entre la publication du banzuke et le début du tournoi ne suffisent pas pour se préparer correctement. La tournée est faite pour ça, même si les conditions de travail ne sont pas toujours idéales."
Sur le plan des animations, le programme est apparu un peu désordonné. Shirokuma s'est prêté à la présentation de coiffure (oichomage) juste avant le jinku, tandis que le shokkiri assuré par le duo de la Takasago-beya Asaazuma et Asatenmai s'est déroulé après la démonstration du nouage de la corde blanche (tsuna).
Demain, le groupe prendra la direction de Tsukubamirai, toujours dans la même préfecture. Un trajet rapide d'environ 71 km vers le sud-est, soit à peine une heure de route.

The day opened with bad news: after injuring his hand during his morning training against Onosato (photo), Fujiryoga has to leave the tour today to return to Tokyo for treatment.

Beau moment d'échange aujourd’hui avec une séance de Q&A animée par Shonannoumi, Ichiyamamoto et l'enfant du pays, Tomokaze ! Ces deux derniers ont également initié les plus jeunes aux côtés d'Ura.
Si aucune démonstration du yokozuna ou de coiffure traditionnelle (oichomage) n'était au programme, le public a tout de même assisté aux prestations habituelles de jinku et de shokkiri (photo).
Les réseaux sociaux de l'Association ont tourné à plein régime ce matin !
Les abonnés ont notamment pu observer Fujinokawa recevoir les conseils avisés du chef de tournée, Takadagawa-oyakata, avant de s'imposer une session intensive de 17 combats consécutifs.
Prochaine escale demain à Mito (préfecture d’Ibaraki), après 134 km de trajet vers le nord-est, soit environ deux heures de route.

Although there were no yokozuna or topknot (oichomage) demonstrations today, the crowd was still treated to the traditional jinku and shokkiri (photo) performances.
The Association’s social media were full of actions this morning!
Followers notably got to watch Fujinokawa receive valuable advice from the tour manager, Takadagawa-oyakata, before putting himself through an intense marathon of 17 consecutive bouts.
Next stop tomorrow: Mito in Ibaraki Prefecture (about a 2-hour, 134 km drive northeast).

Depuis dimanche, les fans de sumo ont le plaisir d'assister au retour de Kotozakura pour la dernière ligne droite de la tournée d'été. L'ozeki a même repris le combat en affrontant Aonishiki sur le dohyo.
En revanche, l'abattement est de mise après l'abandon de Takayasu, contraint de jeter l'éponge hier soir en raison de ses problèmes persistants aux jambes.
Côté animations, Abi a fait la démonstration de la coiffure traditionnelle (oichomage) avant les séquences de jinku et de shokkiri.
Le yokozuna Onosato a également assuré le spectacle lors de la préparation de sa corde blanche, de son dohyo-iri et de son torikumi face à Kirishima.
Autre moment fort : la surprise et le plaisir des spectateurs d'apercevoir l'ancien sekiwake Takarafuji, qui exerce désormais sous le nom de Kiriyama-oyakata.
Demain, le groupe mettra le cap sur Kawasaki, dans la préfecture de Kanagawa — un trajet d'un peu plus de 50 km vers le sud, soit environ une heure de route.

Since Sunday, sumo fans have been delighted to see Kotozakura return for the final stretch of the summer tour. The ozeki even stepped back into the ring to face Aonishiki on the dohyo.
On the other hand, disappointment was palpable after Takayasu pulled out yesterday evening, citing persistent leg issues.
As for the side events, Abi demonstrated the traditional topknot styling (oichomage) ahead of the jinku and shokkiri performances.
The yokozuna Onosato was also in the spotlight for the tying of his white rope, his dohyo-iri, and his torikumi against Kirishima.
Another highlight was the pleasant surprise for many in the crowd to cross paths with former sekiwake Takarafuji, now known as Kiriyama-oyakata.
Tomorrow, the tour heads to Kawasaki in Kanagawa Prefecture—a journey of just over 50 km to the south, taking about an hour by road.

This is a quick note to let you know that I won’t be able to post the tour reports between Saturday 22 and Monday 24 (covering the stops in Fukushima, Otawara and Kumagaya). The usual schedule will resume from Tuesday 25 for the Nagareyama stage, in Chiba Prefecture.

Le programme s'est enrichi de sept combats dans la division Makushita, au grand plaisir du public qui a pu encourager son enfant du pays, Anosho (Ajigawa-beya).
La journée a également été marquée par la démonstration de l'oichomage par un autre héros local, Tokihayate, juste avant le jinku et le shokkiri.
De son côté, Onosato est venu présenter le nouage de sa corde blanche en vue de son dohyo-iri.
Aujourd’hui, Ienoshima (Yamahibiki) était l'invité d'honneur des torikumi toujours contre Kagayaki, avant que Rakanji ne vienne clore les activités avec la tradition du yumitori-shiki.
Demain, la tournée dans le Tohoku s'achèvera dans la capitale de la préfecture de Fukushima, située à environ 120 km plus au sud (soit 1,5 heure de route).

Plusieurs nouvelles positives ont rythmé la journée : Aonishiki a fait son retour sur le dohyo et a disputé son torikumi face à Atamifuji.
En milieu de journée, Ura a effectué une présentation du oichomage, avant de laisser place aux chants (jinku) et aux démonstrations humoristiques (shokkiri).
L'un des moments forts a été la préparation d'Onosato (nouage de sa corde blanche) suivie de son dohyo-iri.
En raison d'un nombre impair de sekitori, l'Association a de nouveau sollicité Kurohimeyama pour faire face à Kagayaki en début d'après-midi. La dix-huitième étape s'est achevée par la cérémonie du yumitori-shiki exécutée par Rakanji.
Demain, la caravane conclura son parcours dans la préfecture de Miyagi en se rendant à Osaki. Un trajet d'environ 98 km vers le sud-ouest les attend, soit une heure et demie de route.

In the middle of the day, Ura gave a presentation of the oichomage, before making way for songs (jinku) and comedy sketches (shokkiri).
One of the highlights was Onosato’s preparations (tying his white rope), followed by his dohyo-iri.
Due to an odd number of sekitori, the Association once again called upon Kurohimeyama to face Kagayaki in the early afternoon. The eighteenth day concluded with the yumitori-shiki ceremony performed by Rakanji.
Tomorrow, the group will conclude their journey in Miyagi Prefecture by travelling to Osaki. A trip of around 98 km to the south-west lies ahead, which will take an hour and a half by bus.

Excellente nouvelle ce mercredi : Onosato fait son retour sur le dohyo pour les torikumi ! Le yokozuna a clôturé cette dix-septième étape lors de l'affiche finale face à Kirishima.
Peu d'informations ont filtré sur le déroulement de la journée. Tout juste sait-on que Takerufuji a réalisé la démonstration de la coiffure traditionnelle (oichomage), suivie des habituels chants (jinku) et intermèdes comiques (shokkiri), qui ont formé l'essentiel du spectacle.
Le retour en piste du Grand champion a également permis d'étoffer le programme de la division Makushita, dont le nombre de duels est passé à six.
Après ces épreuves, un long périple attend l'ensemble du groupe ce soir. Les lutteurs ont pris la route direction le sud vers Kesennuma (préfecture de Miyagi), soit un trajet de près de 270 km représentant plus de 3,5 heures de bus !

Great news this Wednesday: Onosato is making his return to the dohyo for the torikumi! The yokozuna brought this seventeenth stage to an end in the final bout against Kirishima.
Very little information has emerged about how the day unfolded. All we know is that Takerufuji demonstrated the traditional topknot (oichomage), followed by the customary songs (jinku) and comic interludes (shokkiri), which formed the bulk of the performance.
The Grand Champion’s return to the ring has also helped to expand the Makushita division’s programme, with the number of bouts increasing to six.
After these trials, a long journey awaits the whole group this evening. The wrestlers have set off southwards towards Kesennuma (Miyagi Prefecture), a journey of nearly 270 km taking over 3.5 hours by bus!

Aujourd'hui, c'est Fujinokawa qui s'est prêté à la démonstration de l'art du oichomage (la coiffure traditionnelle).
De retour depuis dimanche, le yokozuna Onosato (photo) a présenté le nouage de sa corde blanche avant d’exécuter son dohyo-iri. Il ne participe toutefois toujours pas aux combats de l’après-midi.
Du côté des affrontements (torikumi), Anhibiki a fait son retour sur le dohyo chez les sekitori pour y retrouver Kagayaki.
Un peu plus tôt, le public a pu assister au combat d'exhibition entre les deux coéquipiers de l'écurie Isegahama : le héros local Takerufuji et Atamifuji.
Demain, la tournée se poursuivra à Misawa, toujours dans la préfecture d’Aomori. Le groupe effectuera un voyage d'environ 64 km vers l'est pour s'y rendre, soit une bonne heure de route.

L'enfant du pays, Takerufuji, a ravi les spectateurs locaux en effectuant la démonstration du oichomage (chignon traditionnel) à l'issue de l'entraînement des enfants, aux côtés de ses coéquipiers de l'écurie Isegahama.
La belle surprise de ce dimanche est venue du retour d'Onosato, confirmé plus tôt cette semaine par son entraîneur Nishonoseki.
S'il a participé à la préparation physique matinale (photo) et arboré sa corde blanche lors de la présentation, il n'a en revanche pas combattu lors des torikumi de l'après-midi.
L'ambiance était tout aussi animée autour du dohyo, où les supporters ont eu le plaisir de voir un autre héros local : Anhibiki (actuel Makushita #22 d'Ajigawa-beya) affrontait Shirokuma.
En coulisses, l'atmosphère est restée détendue, marquée par une bagarre amicale entre Wakamotoharu et Takanosho qui s'est terminée dans les vestiaires 🤣 (vidéo Twitter @shinmagunana).
Aucune étape n'est programmée pour la journée de demain. Le groupe en profitera pour "se reposer" et effectuer un court trajet d'environ 45 km (soit une heure de route vers le nord-est) afin d'atteindre le chef-lieu de la préfecture d'Aomori, où se tiendra la représentation de mardi.

Local favourite Takerufuji delighted the local spectators by demonstrating the oichomage (traditional topknot) at the end of the children’s training session, alongside his teammates from the Isegahama stable.
The lovely surprise this Sunday came in the form of Onosato’s return, which was confirmed earlier this week by his coach, Nishonoseki.
Although he took part in the morning’s physical training (photo) and wore his white rope during the presentation, he did not, however, compete in the afternoon’s torikumi.
The atmosphere was just as lively around the dohyo, where supporters were treated to the sight of another local hero: Anhibiki (currently ranked Makushita #22 for Ajigawa stable) was taking on Shirokuma.
Backstage, the atmosphere remained relaxed, punctuated by a friendly battle between Wakamotoharu and Takanosho which ended in the locker rooms 🤣 (video Twitter @shinmagunana).
No stops are scheduled for tomorrow. The group will take the opportunity to “rest” and make a short journey of around 45 km (about an hour’s drive north-east) to reach the capital of Aomori Prefecture, where Tuesday’s performance will take place.

La journée s’est ouverte sur la commémoration de la fin de la seconde Guerre Mondiale, aussi appelée le "jour du deuil des morts à la guerre et de prières pour la paix".
Côté animations, le programme est resté particulièrement sobre, limité aux prestations de jinku (chant) et de shokkiri (comédie).
Comme c'est désormais l'habitude depuis le début du voyage, les divisions Jonidan et Sandanme ont aligné une longue série de combats, à l'inverse de la catégorie Makushita dont la liste était plus restreinte.
Du côté des figures appréciées du public, Fujinokawa et Ura ont fait leur retour sur le ring pour leur exhibition.
L'événement de samedi au niveau des sekitori résidait dans l'invitation d'Oyamada (actuel Makushita #29 de la Naruto-beya), venu défier Kagayaki dans l'après-midi.
Demain, la tournée mettra le cap au nord en direction de Hirosaki, dans la préfecture d’Aomori. La troupe effectuera un trajet d'environ 156 km, soit près de 2:30 heures de route.

As it has become the norm since the start of the tournament, the Jonidan and Sandanme divisions featured a long series of bouts, in contrast to the Makushita division, where the schedule was more limited.
As for the crowd favourites, Fujinokawa and Ura made their return to the ring for their exhibition match.
The highlight of Saturday’s sekitori actions was the appearance of Oyamada (currently ranked Makushita #29 for Naruto-beya), who came to challenge Kagayaki in the afternoon.
Tomorrow, the tour will head north towards Hirosaki, in Aomori Prefecture. The group will travel a distance of around 156 km, which is nearly 2 hours and 30 minutes’ drive.

Le programme proposait encore une belle série de combats dans les divisions inférieures, sans oublier le duel d'exhibition entre Fujinokawa et Ura, récurrent depuis bientôt une semaine.
Du côté des matchs de l’après-midi, le lutteur de la Takadagawa-beya, Otsuji (Makushita #10), était invité à défier Shirokuma pour l’ouverture du torikumi.
Cap demain sur le chef-lieu de la préfecture d'Akita, situé à moins d'une heure de route (69 km au nord-ouest).

The programme featured again a fine series of bouts in the lower divisions, not to forget the exhibition match between Fujinokawa and Ura, which had been recurring for nearly a week.
As for the afternoon duels, the Takadagawa-beya wrestler Otsuji (Makushita #10) was scheduled to take on Shirokuma in the opening bout.
Tomorrow we’re heading to the capital of Akita Prefecture, less than an hour’s drive away (69 km north-west).

Acteur local de l'étape, Shirokuma a connu quelques heures bien chargées : convié hier soir au banquet de la mairie, il servait dès ce matin de cobaye pour la démonstration du chignon traditionnel, le chonmage.
Du côté des animations, le bilan reste similaire au jours précédents pour les ligues inférieures, tout comme pour l'exhibition opposant Fujinokawa à Ura.
Le public a en revanche eu la bonne surprise de croiser Takayasu : l'ancien ozeki a pris la décision de dernière minute d'intégrer la tournée !
L'après-midi a été marquée par la présence de Kurohimeyama (Sakaigawa-beya), invité pour les torikumi face à Kagayaki.
Outre l'incontournable shokkiri (démonstration humoristique des fautes au sumo), les spectateurs ont assisté à une nouvelle confrontation entre Shodai et Ichiyamamoto, un duel récurrent qui finit immanquablement par tourner au sketch.
Demain, le groupe met le cap sur Yokote, dans la préfecture d'Akita. Un trajet de près de 300 km vers le nord, représentant environ 3:30 heures de route.

A local figure at this stage of the tour, Shirokuma has had a rather busy few hours: invited to the town hall banquet last night, this morning he was acting as a "guinea pig" for a demonstration of the traditional topknot, the chonmage.
As for the entertainments, the situation remains much the same as in previous days for the lower leagues, as it does for the match between Fujinokawa and Ura.
The spectators, however, were pleasantly surprised to spot Takayasu: the former ozeki made a last-minute decision to join the tour!

En héros local, Nishikigi était la vedette du jour en enchaînant les apparitions : d'abord pour une session de questions-réponses aux côtés de Takerufuji, Ura et Kitanowaka, puis en solo pour la démonstration de la coiffure traditionnelle.
Sur le dohyo, la journée s'est à nouveau articulée autour de nombreux combats en Jonidan et Sandanme (cinquième et quatrième divisions), contre seulement cinq en Makushita, sans oublier une énième rencontre spéciale entre Ura et Fujinokawa.
L'événement marquant de ce mercredi reste le duel imprévu entre Kotoeiho et Atamifuji, organisé au dernier moment en raison du forfait de l'ozeki Kotozakura, soucieux "d'écouter son corps"… Il reste cependant auprès de ses camarades pour les entraînements matinaux.
Demain, le groupe mettra le cap sur Sukagawa, dans la préfecture de Fukushima, après un trajet d'environ 250 km vers le sud (soit un peu moins de trois heures de route).

As a local hero, Nishikigi was the star of the day, making a series of appearances: first for a Q&A session alongside Takerufuji, Ura and Kitanowaka, then on his own for a demonstration of the traditional topknot.
On the dohyo, the day once again centred on numerous bouts in Jonidan and Sandanme (the fifth and fourth divisions), compared with just five in Makushita, not to mention yet another special bout between Ura and Fujinokawa.
The highlight of Wednesday was the unexpected bout between Kotoeiho and Atamifuji, arranged at the last minute following the withdrawal of the ozeki Kotozakura, who is keen to “listen to his body”… He is, however, remaining with his mates for the morning training sessions.
Tomorrow, the group will head for Sukagawa, in Fukushima Prefecture, after a journey of around 250 km south (just under three hours’ drive).

La deuxième journée à Sendai s’est ouverte avec un changement lors de la session de questions-réponses par rapport à la veille : Shirokuma et Wakamotoharu ont pris la relève des frères Kotoshoho et Kotoeiho aux côtés de Tomokaze.
Sur le dohyo, l'organisation des combats suscite la curiosité depuis quelques jours. Les divisions Sandanme et Jonidan enchaînent un grand nombre d'affrontements, tandis que la division Makushita a été réduite à seulement cinq duels — un ajustement qui pourrait être pensé pour valoriser les lutteurs locaux.
Le départ d'Onosato en a surpris plus d'un. Le yokozuna s'est rendu hier soir à Tokyo pour effectuer des examens médicaux, mais le directeur Nishonoseki s'est voulu rassurant, précisant que son retour était prévu d'ici quelques jours.
Un duel particulier a opposé Fujinokawa à Ura avant le passage des autres sekitori. Le phénoménal Asahifuji est également remonté sur le dohyo pour faire face à Kagayaki.
Chez les ozeki, Kirishima affiche une excellente condition physique, sollicitant une dizaine de combats quotidiens à l'en-traînement qu'il domine largement (8-2 en moyenne). À l'inverse, Aonishiki privilégie une reprise en douceur : focalisé sur les fondamentaux, il attend que son corps soit prêt avant de reprendre les duels.
La caravane du sumo prend dès demain la direction d'Oshu, dans la préfecture d'Iwate, située à environ 115 km au nord (soit 1,5 heure de route).

The second day in Sendai began with a change to the question-and-answer session compared with the previous day: Shirokuma and Wakamotoharu took over from the brothers Kotoshoho and Kotoeiho alongside Tomokaze.
On the dohyo, the scheduling of the bouts has been the subject of much curiosity over the past few days. The Sandanme and Jonidan divisions are staging a large number of bouts, whilst the Makushita division has been reduced to just five bouts — an adjustment that may be intended to showcase local wrestlers.
The departure of Onosato came as a surprise to many. The yokozuna travelled to Tokyo last night to undergo medical tests, but his stablemaster Nishonoseki sought to reassure fans, stating that he was expected to return within a few days.
A special bout took place between Fujinokawa and Ura before the other sekitori were on the dohyo. The phenomenal Asahifuji also returned to face Kagayaki.
Among the ozeki, Kirishima is in excellent physical condition, undertaking around ten practice bouts a day, which he dominates by a wide margin (an average of 8-2). In contrast, Aonishiki is opting for a gentle return to action: focusing on the basics, he is waiting until his body is ready before resuming matches.
The sumo tour sets off tomorrow for Oshu, in Iwate Prefecture, which is situated about 115 km to the north (an hour and a half drive).

Le héros local Kitanowaka s'est prêté aujourd'hui au jeu de la démonstration du chignon traditionnel, ouvrant la voie au jinku, au shokkiri et à la présentation du nouage de la corde blanche du yokozuna Onosato.
Malgré le manque de communication de la JSA sur le programme de la journée, les spectateurs ont pu suivre ce déroulé avant de voir le lutteur Makushita Asahifuji poursuivre son entraînement aux côtés des sekitori.
En fin de journée, Kotozakura a fait son retour remarqué sur le dohyo, affrontant Atamifuji lors de l'avant-dernier combat.
Demain, le groupe mettra le cap sur Shinjo, toujours dans la préfecture de Yamagata, pour un court trajet de 55 km (approx. une heure).

Despite the JSA’s lack of communication regarding today’s programme, spectators were able to follow the proceedings before watching the Makushita wrestler Asahifuji continue his training alongside the sekitori.
At the end of the day, Kotozakura made a remarkable return to the dohyo, facing Atamifuji in the penultimate bout.
Tomorrow, the group will head for Shinjo, still in Yamagata Prefecture, for a short journey of 55 km (approx. one hour).

Enfant du pays et figure centrale de cette cinquième journée de la tournée estivale, Wakamotoharu a assuré le spectacle en se prêtant à la traditionnelle démonstration du chignon (chonmage), après avoir rythmé les animations de la matinée.
En dehors de cette séquence marquante, peu de détails ont filtré quant au reste du programme.
Sur le dohyo, l'après-midi a réservé quelques ajustements. Le lutteur Ienoshima (Yamahibiki-beya), actuellement classé Makushita #34 après un tournoi passable à Nagoya (2-5), a été sollicité pour affronter Kagayaki lors des torikumi.
Sur une note plus légère, les spectateurs présents ont bénéficié d'une session bonus de shokkiri, le combat comique traditionnel, porté cette fois par le duo Ura et Ichiyamamoto.
La caravane reprend la route dès ce soir en direction du nord. Cap sur Sakata, dans la préfecture de Yamagata, pour un trajet d'un peu moins de trois heures mais il y aura plus de 200 kilomètres au compteur…

A local and the star of this fifth day of the summer tour, Wakamotoharu put on a great show by taking part in the traditional topknot demonstration (chonmage), having set the pace for the morning’s activities.
Apart from this standout segment, few details have emerged regarding the rest of the programme.
On the dohyo, the afternoon saw a few changes. The wrestler Ienoshima (Yamahibiki-beya), currently ranked Makushita #34 following a mediocre tournament in Nagoya (2-5), was selected to face Kagayaki during the torikumi.
On a lighter note, the audience were treated to a bonus session of shokkiri, the traditional comic fight, this time performed by the duo Ura and Ichiyamamoto.
The caravan sets off again this evening, heading north. We’re heading for Sakata, in Yamagata Prefecture – a journey of just under three hours, but we’ll have covered more than 200 kilometres…

Aujourd’hui, les divisions Sandanme et Makushita ont animé la journée avec des mini-tournois à cinq lutteurs, tandis que Mitakeumi a été désigné par l'Association pour s'occuper de la présentation du chignon.
L'ambiance était toujours au beau fixe, effaçant les différences de classement dans une atmosphère détendue.
Les enfants, invités sur le dohyo dans la matinée, se sont ensuite mesurés à Wakamotoharu et Shirokuma.
Mercredi, Asahifuji retrouvait les sekitori, mais cette fois pour de "vrais" combats lors des torikumi de l'après-midi.
Demain, le groupe prendra la route pour Kitakata, dans la même préfecture de Fukushima, distante d'environ 71 km pour un trajet estimé à 1h20.

Today, the Sandanme and Makushita divisions provided the entertainment with mini-tournaments featuring five wrestlers each, whilst Mitakeumi was appointed by the Association to present the topknot.
The atmosphere was as cheerful as ever, with the differences in ranking fading into the background in a relaxed atmosphere.
The children, who were invited onto the dohyo in the morning, then went head-to-head with Wakamotoharu and Shirokuma.
On Wednesday, Asahifuji faced the sekitori once again, but this time in "real" bouts during the afternoon’s torikumi.
Tomorrow, the group will set off for Kitakata, in the same prefecture of Fukushima, which is about 71 km away – a journey expected to take 1 hour 20 minutes.

Les animations du mardi se sont déroulées dans la continuité des jours précédents.
L'enfant du pays, Ryuden, s’est prêté au jeu de la démonstration du chignon, soutenu par son fan-club qui avait installé des stands de nourriture pour l'occasion.
Seule ombre au tableau : l'abandon de Nishikifuji, contraint de regagner Tokyo d'urgence la veille en raison d'un problème cardiaque.
Sur le plan des spectacles, le duo comique du shokkiri a fait peau neuve en laissant place à un binôme 100 % de l'écurie Takasago, formé par Asaazuma et Asatenmai.
Pendant ce temps, leur coéquipier Asazenshin a repris son rôle pour la cérémonie de l'arc (yumitori-shiki).
Sur le dohyo, le lutteur Makushita Otsuji est venu prêter main-forte pour le tout premier combat sekitori face à Shirokuma.
De son côté, bien qu'il ne se soit prêté qu'à l'entraînement du matin, Kotozakura est apparu très détendu, enchaînant les sourires et les plaisanteries avec ses camarades, notamment Kinbozan.
Cap sur une nouvelle région dès demain !
Le groupe quitte le Chubu pour rejoindre le Tohoku : mercredi, le cortège s’installera à Koriyama, dans la préfecture de Fukushima, après un trajet de 340 km (environ 4h30 de route vers le nord).

Tuesday’s activities followed on from those of the previous days.
Local boy Ryuden took part in the topknot demonstration, cheered on by his fan club, who had set up food stalls for the occasion.
The only fly in the ointment was the withdrawal of Nishikifuji, who was forced to return to Tokyo urgently the day before due to a heart problem.
As for the performances, the shokkiri comedy duo has been revamped, making way for a pair made up entirely of members from the Takasago stable: Asaazuma and Asatenmai.
Meanwhile, their teammate Asazenshin resumed his role for the bow ceremony (yumitori-shiki).
On the dohyo, the Makushita wrestler Otsuji stepped in to help out in a sekitori bout against Shirokuma.
For his part, although he only took part in the morning training session, Kotozakura seemed very relaxed, smiling and joking with his teammates, particularly Kinbozan.
Off to a new region tomorrow!
The group is leaving Chubu to head for Tohoku: on Wednesday, the convoy will set up camp in Koriyama, in Fukushima Prefecture, after a 340 km journey (around 4 hours and 30 minutes’ drive north).

À l'image de la veille, Kotozakura et Aonishiki se sont contentés de l'entraînement matinal et du dohyo-iri.
Lors de la démonstration du chignon, Roga a pris le relais tandis que Rakanji a retrouvé son rôle pour la danse de l'arc.
En coulisses, la préparation s'organise : avant le lancement de cette tournée, le directeur Sadogatake avait sollicité son confrère Yamahibiki pour prendre Kotoeiho sous son aile. Ce dernier aurait bénéficié de précieux conseils transmis depuis l'époque du grand Kitanoumi (cinquante-cinquième yokozuna).
De son côté, Fujinokawa aborde avec confiance une possible promotion en san’yaku. Sa véritable inquiétude porte plutôt sur la conservation de son shikona, un nom chargé de 150 ans d'histoire au sein de l'écurie Isenoumi. En parallèle, il a poursuivi ses exercices aux côtés d'Asahifuji, qui continue de marquer les esprits.
L'ambiance était plus lourde lors d'un échange aperçu entre Mitakeumi et Kirishima. Plombé par son lourd 2-13 à Nagoya, l'ex-ozeki Mitakeumi se dirige tout droit vers la division Juryo en septembre. S'il dit vouloir profiter de ce mois d'août au contact des fans, l'ombre d'un départ à la retraite semble planer…
Demain, la tournée fera escale à Kofu dans la préfecture de Yamanashi, après un trajet d'environ 260 km (3:20 de route) vers l'est.

During the demonstration of the topknot, Roga took over whilst Rakanji returned to his role for the bow twirling ceremony.
Behind the scenes, preparations are underway: ahead of the start of this tour, Director Sadogatake had asked his colleague Yamahibiki to take Kotoeiho under his wing. The latter is said to have benefited from valuable advice passed down from the days of the great Kitanoumi (the fifty-fifth yokozuna).
For his part, Fujinokawa is confidently looking ahead to a possible promotion to san’yaku. His real concern, however, is retaining his shikona – a name steeped in 150 years of history within the Isenoumi stable. Meanwhile, he has continued his training alongside Asahifuji, who continues to make a lasting impression.
The atmosphere was more tense during a brief exchange between Mitakeumi and Kirishima. Weighed down by his disappointing 2-13 record in Nagoya, former ozeki Mitakeumi is heading straight to the Juryo division in September. Although he says he wants to make the most of this August by spending time with his fans, the spectre of retirement seems to be looming…
Tomorrow, the tour will stop in Kofu in Yamanashi Prefecture, after a journey of around 260 km (3 hours 20 minutes’ drive) eastwards.

Pour ouvrir le bal, le public a assisté au coiffage traditionnel du chignon réalisé sur Atamifuji, avant de profiter du jinku (chant traditionnel) et du shokkiri (pantomime comique), interprétés par deux lutteurs de la division Jonidan : Wakazakura et Mihamaumi.
Seul Grand champion "actif", Onosato est ensuite venu faire la démonstration du nouage de sa ceinture de yokozuna.
Côté entraînement, les spectateurs ont pu observer Kotoeiho perfectionner son shiko, mais c'est surtout le jeune Asahifuji (Isegahama-beya) qui a marqué les esprits. Invité à s'entraîner avec les Makuuchi, le champion des ligues inférieures s'est illustré en tenant tête à Gonoyama, Ura et Fujinokawa.
Fidèle à son engagement, Aonishiki (photo) a répondu présent lors de la session matinale, faisant le choix d'impasse sur les combats de l'après-midi. La journée s'est conclue avec la cérémonie de l'arc, présentée par Asasenshin (actuel Sandanme - la quatrième ligue - chez Takasago-beya).
L'aventure continue dès demain tout près d'ici : l'équipe prend la direction de Yamagata, située à seulement une douzaine de kilomètres (soit environ 20 minutes de trajet).

To kick things off, the audience watched the traditional styling of the topknot on Atamifuji, before enjoying the jinku (traditional song) and shokkiri (comic pantomime), performed by two wrestlers from the Jonidan division: Wakazakura and Mihamaumi.
The only "active" Grand Champion, Onosato, then came on to demonstrate how to tie his yokozuna rope.
As for training, spectators were able to watch Kotoeiho perfect his shiko, but it was above all the young Asahifuji (Isegahama stable) who made a lasting impression. Invited to train with the Makuuchi wrestlers, the lower-division champion distinguished himself by holding his own against Gonoyama, Ura and Fujinokawa.
True to his commitment, Aonishiki (pictured) took part in the morning session, choosing to sit out the afternoon bouts. The day concluded with the bow ceremony, led by Asasenshin (currently Sandanme – the fourth division – at Takasago-beya).
The adventure continues tomorrow, very close by: the team is heading to Yamagata, just a dozen km away (about a 20-minute journey).
