Trente-et-un an après leur dernière venue, l’Association était de retour à Paris du 9 au 17 juin ! Après avoir visité quelques lieux touristiques (de la Tour Eiffel à Notre-Dame, mais aussi la Normandie et les Alpes), les 41 lutteurs haut-gradés se sont produits pendant deux jours dans la salle de Bercy.

Thirty-one years after their last visit, the Association was back in Paris from June 9 to 17! After visiting a few tourist attractions (from the Eiffel Tower to Notre-Dame, as well as Normandy and the Alps), the 41 high-ranking wrestlers performed for two days at the Bercy arena.
Here are the highlights of the weekend. I personally took all the photos you’ll see on this page. There are also a few YouTube videos by @sumochannel000.

Avant le début du spectacle, nous pouvions entendre vers midi le tambour sur l’esplanade, nous invitant à nous rapprocher de l’entrée : l’événement commence !

Before the show began, we could hear the drum at around midday on the esplanade, beckoning us to move closer to the entrance: the event is about to begin!

Tout comme à Londres en octobre 2025, le président Hakkaku a pris la parole vers 14:00 pour nous accueillir, entouré des lutteurs, des arbitres et des juges, avant que ne retentissent les deux hymnes nationaux.

Just as in London in October 2025, President Hakkaku took the dohyo to welcome us around 14:00, flanked by the wrestlers, referees and judges, before the two national anthems were played.
🎶Jinku 甚句🎶

Les animations ont ensuite débuté. On a assisté à une démonstration du jinku, le chant traditionnel. Les artistes sont vêtus des tabliers des sekitori.

The performances then began. We watched a demonstration of jinku, the traditional song. The performers were dressed in sekitori aprons.

Place aux rires ! Asaazuma et Asatenmai, du club Takasago, sont montés sur le dohyo samedi pour 12+ minutes humoristiques. Un spectacle digne des clowns du cirque 🤣.

Let the laughter begin! Asaazuma and Asatenmai, from the Takasago stable, took the dohyo for over 12 minutes of comedy on Saturday. A performance worthy of circus clowns 🤣.
Dimanche, la comédie ci-dessus était remplacée par la démonstration du chignon. Hiradoumi (photo) et Nishikifuji étaient les deux "modèles".

On Sunday, the comedy sketch shown above was replaced by a demonstration of how to do a chignon. Hiradoumi (pictured) and Nishikifuji were the two "models".
Une petite séance d'entraînement avec des enfants a été dirigée par Takanosho, Fujiseiun (photo) et Asakoryu samedi, puis Oho, Chiyoshoma et Oshoma dimanche. Le plus jeune avait 3 ans !

A short training session with children was led by Takanosho, Fujiseiun (pictured) and Asakoryu on Saturday, replaced by Oho, Chiyoshoma and Oshoma on Sunday. The youngest was 3 years old!
Après les divertissements, les choses sérieuses ont commencé ! Hoshoryu (samedi) et Onosato (le lendemain) ont présenté le nouage de leur ceinture avant les dohyo-iri.

Once the entertainment was over, it was time to get down to business! Hoshoryu (on Saturday) and Onosato (the following day) demonstrated how to tie their belts before the dohyo-iri.
Torikumi
Les deux journées de tournoi ont réellement démarré vers 16:00. Kotoeiho (à gauche sur la photo) a ainsi inauguré les deux compétitions avec Tokihayate (samedi) et Shishi (dimanche).
Dans l'ensemble, les matchs étaient beaucoup moins "scénarisés" qu'ils l'étaient à Londres. Ura a perdu au deuxième tour (les deux jours...), mais il a nous a régalé par ses cabrioles🤣. On a aussi pu voir les poses "Monsieur muscles" d'Asakoryu et "grizzly" de Takayasu, mais on regrette que Kotozakura n'ait pas montré son regard🤬 (le tsukebito habituel n'était pas là).

The two days of the tournament really got underway at around 4.00 pm. Kotoeiho (pictured, on the left) kicked off both competitions, facing Tokihayate on Saturday and Shishi on Sunday.
Overall, the bouts were far less ‘scripted’ than they were in London. Ura lost in the second round (on both days…), but he treated us to some brilliant moves🤣. We also got to see Asakoryu’s “Mr. Muscle” and Takayasu’s “grizzly bear” poses, but a few people in the audience regretted that Kotozakura didn’t show us his signature look🤬 (his usual tsukebito wasn’t there).

Comme au Japon, nous avons eu droit au yumitori-shiki en fin de journées. C'est la danse de l'arc.
Just like in Japan, we were treated to a yumitori-shiki at the end of each day. It's the bow twirling ceremony.

Si je devais résumer l'édition de Paris 2026, je ne dirai qu'un mot : WOW 🤩.
En me promenant autour de l'Accor arena dimanche matin pour faire la promotion de FURANSUMO, je suis tombé nez-à-nez avec Okinohama (gauche), l'assistant du président Hakkaku, et Tamanotora - celui de Tamawashi. Une formidable rencontre !

If I had to sum up the Paris 2026 event, I’d say just one word: WOW 🤩.
Whilst walking around the Accor Arena on Sunday morning to promote FURANSUMO, I bumped into Okinohama (left), President Hakkaku’s assistant, and Tamanotora – Tamawashi’s. What a brilliant encounter!
