A review of the autumn tour (aki jungyo) and the build-up to Fukuoka…

At the end of the autumn tour (link here), Takadagawa-oyakata praised the wrestlers’ commitment and the low number of absences.
Everyone was able to train at their own pace, and the results will be revealed in two weeks’ time when the Fukuoka winter tournament gets underway on 8 November. The wrestlers, too, are very pleased with how October has gone.
This was the case for Hoshoryu, who gradually increased the intensity of his preparation. As for recovery, he chose to limit his travel by staying at the same hotel when stops lasted longer than 48 hours in the same prefecture.
His appearance on the dohyo will not be officially confirmed until Friday 6th, when the first torikumi are published. But the yokozuna is making his ambitions clear, perfectly embodying the guiding principle set out a few months earlier by his coach, Tatsunami: “The title or nothing!”
