Obituary: Former ozeki Wakashimazu dies at 69
La presse japonaise a révélé dimanche le décès de Wakashimazu, un ancien disciple du yokozuna Wakanohana I chez Futagoyama-beya entre 1975 et 1987.
D’après nos informations la "Panthère noire des mers du Sud" aurait succombé à une pneumonie.
On a beaucoup entendu parler de lui depuis la période postpandémique. En effet, en décembre 2021 il a transmis le kabu Nishonoseki à l’ancien yokozuna Kisenosato en échange de Araiso. En juillet 2023, alors qu’il lui restait deux années à effectuer comme consultant de l’Association, Wakashimazu a choisi de prendre sa retraite définitive, léguant le nom susmentionné au sekiwake Kotoyuki (Sadogatake-beya).

The Japanese press reported on Sunday the death of Wakashimazu, a former disciple of yokozuna Wakanohana I at Futagoyama-beya between 1975 and 1987.
