En décembre, l’Association a choisi d’envoyer la DeLorean 40,5 ans dans le passé pour nous plonger au cœur du tournoi de printemps 1985 (vidéo en bas de l'article).
Chiyonofuji remportait sa onzième coupe de l’Empereur quelques semaines plus tôt. Parmi les débutants, on pouvait remarquer deux rikishi qui sont aujourd’hui directeurs de leur club : Tochinowaka (Kasugano) et Ryogoku IV (Sakaigawa).
Vingt matchs sont présentés pour l’ouverture de la compétition. Regardez par exemple Terao (4:03) qui faisait ses débuts Makuuchi et son frère Sakahoko (10:57). Un duel intéressant à voir est la quatrième rencontre entre Konishiki et le futur 62e yokozuna Onokuni (13:37). À la fin de la quinzaine, l’ozeki Asashio IV décrochera le seul trophée de sa carrière sur le score de 13-2.

In December, the Association chose to send the DeLorean 40,5 years into the past to immerse us in the 1985 Spring tournament (video at the end of the article).
Chiyonofuji had won his eleventh Emperor's cup a few weeks earlier. Among the beginners, there were two rikishi who are now directors of their stables: Tochinowaka (Kasugano) and Ryogoku IV (Sakaigawa).
Twenty bouts are presented for the opening of the competition. Look at Terao (4:03) who was making his Makuuchi debuts and his brother Sakahoko (10:57). An interesting duel to watch is the fourth meeting between Konishiki and the future 62nd yokozuna Onokuni (13:37). At the end of the fortnight, the ozeki Asashio IV won the only trophy of his career with a score of 13-2.
