The preparation for the Natsu basho is back in full swing following the tour
Au lendemain de l’annonce du banzuke, les rikishi oublient dès maintenant les plaisanteries de la tournée et reprennent sérieusement l’entraînement en vue du tournoi de mai.
Mardi, on a pu voir Hoshoryu diriger les exercices chez lui avec ses camarades de Tatsunami-beya. Son partenaire était le nouveau J. 13 Okaryu, il lui a "souhaité la bienvenue" chez les sekitori en lui infligeant dix-sept matchs (H. les a TOUS gagné 😵…).
Dans la matinée, l’Association a organisé son habituelle réunion au Kokugikan. L’un des favoris du public, Enho (Isegahama), est excité de revenir en deuxième division trois ans après sa chute. Il reste cependant perplexe de retrouver un rythme de 15 jours de combats quotidiens [ndlr, les sections inférieures ont seulement SEPT joutes].
Les têtes ont changé depuis ma relégation, la moyenne d’âge du groupe a bien baissé [rires] !
J’ai reçu beaucoup de félicitations, certains comme le yokozuna sont même admiratif de mon ascension. Depuis la fin mars, j’ai troqué le mawashi noir contre le blanc, et je suis bien déterminé à garder celui-là encore longtemps !
ENGLISH TRANSLATION
In the wake of the banzuke announcement, the rikishi are now putting the banter of the tour behind them and are getting back to serious training in preparation for the May tournament.
On Tuesday, Hoshoryu was seen leading practice at home with his stablemates from Tatsunami-beya. His sparring partner was the newcomer J. 13 Okaryu, "welcoming" him to the sekitori ranks by imposing him seventeen bouts (H. won them ALL 😵…).
This morning, the Association held its usual meeting at the Kokugikan. One of the crowd favourites, Enho (Isegahama), is excited to be returning to the second division three years after his demotion. However, he is still unsure about getting back into the rhythm of daily bouts over a fortnight [Editor’s note: the lower divisions have only SEVEN bouts].
There have been some new faces since I was demoted; the average age has dropped quite a bit [laughs]! I’ve received a lot of congratulations; some, like the yokozuna, even admire my rise to the top. Since the end of March, I’ve swapped my black mawashi for a white one, and I’m determined to keep it for a long time!
