Kotoshoho est le premier Maegashira à remporter la coupe de l’Empereur depuis mars 2024 lorsque Takerufuji gagnait le tournoi de printemps (Haru).
Son titre marque l'histoire puisqu'il est le tout premier champion de l'IG arena. Il avoue que le dernier weekend était très dur émotionnellement, il dormait très mal depuis jeudi soir avant sa préparation du match contre Onosato. Pour l’instant, il ne se soucie guère du prochain banzuke. Il veut profiter du jungyo en août pour parfaire ses techniques afin de corriger les quelques petites erreurs commises pendant les quinze derniers jours.

Kotoshoho is the first Maegashira to win the Emperor's cup since March 2024 when Takerufuji won the Spring tournament (Haru).
His title made history because he's the first champion of the brand-new IG arena. He admits that the last weekend was very hard emotionally, he had been sleeping very badly since Thursday night before his preparation for the match against Onosato. For now, he doesn't care much about the next banzuke. He wants to take advantage of the jungyo in August to perfect his techniques to correct the few small mistakes made during the last fortnight.
