Le club Hakkaku a organisé ce mercredi une cérémonie en la mémoire de Kitanofuji, le 52e yokozuna décédé en novembre. C’est avec beaucoup d’émotions que le directeur (f.k.a. Y.61 Hokutoumi) a présidé l’événement.

Comme la plupart de ses disciples, il a été un père pour moi en m’accueillant chez lui lorsque j’avais 14 ans. Il m’enseignait les bases du sumo pendant que j’étais au collège. Il m’a soutenu lorsque je suis monté sur un dohyo professionnel pour la première fois – mars 1979 – et m’a élevé jusqu’au titre de Grand champion – juillet 1987. Je lui dois tout, et depuis la création de mon club en 1992 je m’efforce de transmettre aux générations futures tout ce qu’il m’a appris, tant sur le plan sportif que le plan humain.

Parmi les personnalités présentes, on a pu compter des membres de l’Association (actifs ou non, e.g. Takamiyama) mais aussi des « civils » comme les légendes du catch Tenryu et Kojika.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

The Hakkaku stable held a ceremony on Wednesday in memory of Kitanofuji, the 52nd yokozuna who died in November. It was with great emotion that the director (f.k.a. Y.61 Hokutoumi) presided over the event.

Like most of his disciples, he was a father by welcoming me into his home when I was 14 years old. He taught me the basics of sumo while I was in JHS. He supported me when I climbed on a professional dohyo for the first time – March 1979 – and raised me to the title of Grand Champion – July 1987. I owe him everything, and since the creation of my stable in 1992 I have striven to pass on to future generations everything he has taught me, both on a sporting and human level.

Among the personalities present were members of the Association (active or not, e.g. Takamiyama) but also "civilians" such as wrestling legends Tenryu and Kojika.
