Hanaregoma-beya finds their recruit... in civil engineering
La presse a révélé lundi 20 avril que Hanaregoma-oyakata, fka le sekiwake Tamanoshima, est allé jusqu’à Hokkaido pour rencontrer Reiji Shirakami, un jeune homme de 23 ans qui passera les tests d’entrée de l’Association au mois de mai.
Il pratique le sumo depuis l’âge de 3 ans dans le club local géré par son père. Avec un gabarit de 180 cm pour 175 kg, Shirakami a choisi de quitter son emploi dans l’entreprise minière familiale au début du mois de janvier.
Pendant ma scolarité, je n’envisageais pas une seule seconde devenir professionnel, mais il y a quelques mois je suis dit "C’est maintenant ou tu le regretteras plus tard !"
Depuis le début de l'année, il s'est inscrit auprès de plusieurs clubs, mais Hanaregoma-beya étaient les premiers à répondre favorablement. Il a tout particulièrement apprécié l’ambiance avec les rikishi, notamment Ichiyamamoto qui l'a tout de suite pris sous son aile.

He has been practicing sumo since the age of 3 in the local club managed by his father. With a size of 180 cm and 175 kg, Shirakami chose to leave his job in the family mining company at the beginning of January.
During my education, I didn't think for a second of entering professional , but a few months ago I said, "Let’s do it now or you'll regret it later!"
Earlier this year, he applied to several stables, but Hanaregoma-beya were the first to respond favorably. He enjoyed the atmosphere with the rikishi, such as Ichiyamamoto who immediately took the young boy under his wing.
