En mars 1989, Chiyonofuji se disloque l'épaule dans son match contre Onokuni au 14e jour du tournoi de printemps. Il déclare donc forfait pour le senshuraku contre Asahifuji mais remportera toutefois sa vingt-septième coupe de l'Empereur avec un score de 14-1.
Sur cette photo, on peut voir le directeur Isegahama - f.k.a. ozeki Kiyokuni - lui remettre l'épaule en place. Beaucoup de personnes racontent que l'oyakata avait une "super-force" qu'il a développé pour traiter le TSPT du décès de sa première femme et ses deux enfants (crash du vol 123 de JP Airlines le 12-8-1985).
ENGLISH TRANSLATION
In March 1989, Chiyonofuji dislocated his shoulder in his match against Onokuni on the 14th day of the Spring tournament. He therefore withdrew from the senshuraku against Asahifuji but won his twenty-seventh Emperor's cup with a score of 14-1.
In this photo, we can see the director Isegahama - f.k.a. ozeki Kiyokuni - putting his shoulder back in place. Many people say that the oyakata had a "super-strengh" that he developped to treat a PTSD from the death of his first wife and two children (crash of the JP Airlines flight 123 on 12-8-1985).
