L’information fait le tour des réseaux sociaux et des médias depuis ce matin : L’Association a publié un communiqué pour annoncer la mort de Wakatozakura âgé de 33 ans.

Luttant sous la bannière de Shikihide-beya depuis 2007, et avec un classement élevé en Jonidan 3, WTZ venait de terminer le tournoi de Haru avec un score de 3-4 en JD 52. Quand il est rentré dans son club à la fin de la compétition, il se plaignait de douleurs et a été transporté dans un hôpital d’Ibaraki. Le rapport médical indique que la cause du décès est une infection des tissus du visage (en terme médical, une nécrose vulvaire faciale).

Ses compagnons Urutora et Gokishin, qui servent de tsukebito à Hoshoryu pendant la tournée de printemps, sont partis en urgence lundi soir pour préparer les funérailles. Une minute de silence a été respectée mardi à Ota-ku, Tokyo pour lui rendre hommage.
