The Association announces a wave of promotions for the officials

Réuni jeudi au Kokugikan, le conseil d'administration de l'Association japonaise de sumo a officialisé la promotion de plusieurs arbitres (gyoji), annonceurs (yobidashi) et coiffeurs (tokoyama).
Toutes ces nominations prendront effet au 1ᵉʳ janvier 2027. Au total, ce sont 18 personnes qui changeront leurs fonctions.
Le changement le plus marquant est la nomination de l'actuel 43e Shikimori Inosuke (écurie Kokonoe), qui devient le tate gyoji (chef des arbitres) sous le nom du 40e Kimura Shonosuke de l'Histoire alors que son prédécesseur prendra sa retraite dans quelques semaines.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION
At a meeting held on Thursday at the Kokugikan, the board of directors of the Japan Sumo Association formally approved the promotion of several referees (gyoji), announcers (yobidashi) and hairdressers (tokoyama).
All these appointments will take effect on January, 1st 2027. In total, there are 18 people who will be taking up new roles. The most significant change is the appointment of the current 43rd Shikimori Inosuke (Kokonoe stable), who becomes the tate gyoji (chief referee) under the name of the 40th Kimura Shonosuke in history, whilst his predecessor is due to retire in a few weeks.
