Le vétéran de 40 ans marque un nouveau point dans sa carrière. En effet, il égalise Takamiyama et Aminishiki avec 97 tournois passés en Makuuchi ! Les trois anciens sekiwake sont au pied du podium : Kaio domine avec 107, Hakuho en a 103 et Kyokutenho ferme la marche avec 99.
