Vendredi matin, le comité organisait son habituelle revue au Kokugikan, une semaine avant le tournoi d’été. La séance était gratuitement ouverte au public.
Tous les lutteurs Makuuchi étaient là sauf le komusubi Takayasu. En sa qualité de Grand champion, Hoshoryu a donné le ton en menant 17 combats et sort à 9-8. Kirishima a brillé par son 10-4 tandis que les deux autres ozeki échouaient sur les scores de 3-7 (Kotozakura) et 3-6 (Aonishiki).
En revanche, la plus grosse déception est Onosato. La 75e corde blanche a reçu un sérieux avertissement du Conseil :
Le point positif, c’est qu’il soit venu. Le fait qu’il n’ait pas pris part aux joutes est navrant, mais nous voulons le voir en forme pour la compétition. Onosato doit faire tout son possible pour remplir sa mission de yokozuna !
Un homme a été chaleureusement acclamé par tout le monde : Enho (en photo avec Mitakeumi) ! Devant plus de 5,000 personnes, le J. 13 est arrivé en retard mais il a rempli haut la main son "contrat" contre ses futurs adversaires. Il est encore un peu craintif de ne pas être au maximum de ses capacités pendant la quinzaine, mais son sumo est toujours satisfaisant.

On Friday morning, the committee held its usual review at the Kokugikan, a week before the summer tournament. The event was open to the public free of charge.
All the Makuuchi wrestlers were present, with the exception of komusubi Takayasu. As the Grand champion, Hoshoryu set the tone by contesting 17 bouts and finishing with a 9-8 record. Kirishima shone with a 10-4 record, whilst the other two ozeki finished with 3-7 (Kotozakura) and 3-6 (Aonishiki).
The biggest disappointment however is Onosato. The 75th white rope has received a stern warning from the Council:
The good thing is that he turned up. It’s a shame he didn’t take part in the fights, but we want to see him in top form for the tournament. Onosato must do everything in his power to fulfil his duties as a yokozuna!
One man received a warm reception from everyone: Enho (pictured with Mitakeumi)! In front of a crowd of over 5,000, the 13th-ranked Juryo wrestler arrived late but easily fulfilled his “contract” against his future opponents. He is still a little worried that he might not be at his best during the fortnight, but his sumo is always satisfying.
