Jeudi matin, l’ancien sekiwake est apparu devant les journalistes avec son directeur Isegahama-oyakata, fka Terunofuji.
Il est très heureux de ses 16,5 ans passés sur les dohyo en n’ayant jamais manqué une seule rencontre (678-720-0) !
Mon seul regret est de ne pas avoir produit un beau sumo en septembre (5-10), mais j'ai apprécié les trois derniers tournois en Juryo peut-être plus que les autres ces dernières années
Son meilleur souvenir est la rivalité avec Kisenosato entre 2013 et 2017 lorsque celui-ci était encore ozeki, même si le futur yokozuna l’a gagné 15-1 [16-2 à la fin de la carrière de KNS]. À partir d’aujourd’hui, il devient le Kiriyama-oyakata et veut continuer à enseigner aux plus jeunes au sein du club.

My only regret is not having produced a beautiful sumo in September (5-10), but I enjoyed the last three tournaments in Juryo maybe more than the others in recent years.
His best memory is the rivalry with Kisenosato between 2013 and 2017 when the latter was still ozeki, even though the future yokozuna won it 15-1 [16-2 at the end of KNS’s career]. From today, he becomes the Kiriyama-oyakata and wants to continue teaching the youngest within the stable.
