Qui est devenu yokozuna peu de temps après sa promotion en ozeki ?
Hakuho
Asashoryu
Futabayama
La bonne réponse est… Futabayama. Devenu ozeki en janvier 1937, il avait déjà au compteur 17 de ses 69 victoires consécutives, auxquelles on rajoute les 11 à Hatsu. En mai, le championnat passe à 13 jours, qu’il remporte en totalité. Si l’on additionne ces trois nombres, 17+11+13=41, l’Association lui délivre la 35ᵉ corde blanche de l’Histoire en janvier 1938.
Un seul homme, Terukuni (n° 38) réussira le même exploit dans un même laps de temps en 1942, cependant il avait enregistré cinq défaites. Le record de Futabayama n’a jamais pu être égalé ou battu (FYI, Hakuho a mis 14 mois et Asashoryu 6).

The correct answer is... Futabayama. He became an ozeki in January 1937 and already had 17 of his 69 consecutive wins, to which we add the 11 in Hatsu. In May, the championship was expanded to 13 days, which he won in full. If we add these three numbers, 17+11+13=41, the Association awarded him the 35th white rope in January 1938.
