On nous parle aujourd’hui du 33ᵉ yokozuna, Musashiyama, qu’on surnommait « l’avion ».

Né en 1909 à Yokohama, il commence sa carrière professionnelle chez Dewanoumi-beya en 1926 et se fait déjà remarquer par son incroyable force dans les mains. Ses performances exceptionnelles lui valent d’obtenir les records de promotions les plus rapides pour l’époque : un tournoi en Jonokuchi, deux Jonidan, deux Sandanme et 4 Makushita avant d’arriver en Juryo pour deux compétitions et en enfin la Makuuchi en deux autres. Pour résumer, il n’a fallu que QUATRE ANS pour qu’il devienne san’yaku.

À partir de mai 1930, les choses décélèrent un peu mais l’homme continue sa progression, pour être sacré Grand champion en 1936. Il prendra sa retraite en mai 1939 à cause de problèmes au bras et héritera du kabu d’instructeur Shiranui. En 1945, il choisit de quitter l’Association pour devenir fermier (sans succès) et agent immobilier.

 Today we are told about the 33rd yokozuna, Musashiyama, who was nicknamed "the airplane".

Born in 1909 in Yokohama, he began his professional career with Dewanoumi-beya in 1926 and was already noticed for his incredible strength in his hands. His exceptional performances earned him the fastest promotion records for the time: one Jonokuchi, two Jonidan, two Sandanme and 4 Makushita tournaments before arriving in Juryo for two competitions and finally the Makuuchi in two others. To sum up, it only took FOUR YEARS for him to become a san'yaku.

From May 1930, things decelerated a little, but the man continued his progress, to be crowned Grand Champion in 1936. He retired in May 1939 due to arm problems and inherited the instructor kabu Shiranui. In 1945, he chose to leave the Association to become a farmer (unsuccessfully) and a real estate agent.
