À l’approche du tournoi de Nagoya, l'ozeki Kirishima (Otowayama-beya) a reçu les encouragements notables de Saori Yoshida, triple championne olympique de lutte.
Cette dernière a confié qu'il était le premier rikishi qu'elle soutenait depuis la retraite de son ami Toyonoshima en 2020, ajoutant avoir eu un véritable coup de cœur pour lui lors de leur rencontre à Tokyo en janvier dernier.
Ce coup de pouce moral tombe à pic. Pour devenir yokozuna, Kirishima doit impérativement briller lors de cette compétition estivale en enchaînant deux performances de haut vol (mai + juillet).
Malgré un agenda chargé entre la France et la Mongolie en juin, le lutteur a peaufiné sa préparation dans les "meilleurs" clubs (Sadogatake, Isegahama, Sakaigawa) et aborde ces quinze jours avec un mélange de décontraction et de détermination absolue.
