Voilà une question que beaucoup de personnes se posent depuis le printemps 2024 et l’affaire qui a marqué la fermeture du club Miyagino : l’Association laissera-t-elle le Grand champion organiser la quinzième Hakuho cup l’an prochain ?
La réponse est OUI ! Nous apprenons aujourd’hui, vendredi 13-12-2024, que l’événement aura lieu au Kokugikan le 11 février 2025. Le yokozuna a demandé l’approbation du directeur Isegahama, son "tuteur" depuis le tournoi de mars :
Je fais ça surtout pour les enfants, ils n’y sont pour rien dans nos histoires et ce serait les punir injustement. La péninsule de Noto en Ishikawa et la délégation ukrainienne seront toujours les bienvenues comme en 2024. Bien que la compétition porte mon shikona, le responsable cette fois sera Asahifuji, mais je serais là en mawashi pour la traditionnelle "classe du sumo".
NB : on ignore cependant si la Dream girls cup sera renouvelée (tournoi féminin qui s'était déroulé la veille).
