Le club Ajigawa organisait mercredi 29 avril une séance d’entraînement ouverte au public. Tout le monde était focalisé sur Aonishiki.
Après un tournoi de mars conclu à 7-8, l’ozeki est aujourd’hui en danger d’une (première) destitution, ce qu’on appelle le statut "kadoban" dans notre jargon. Il a dû abandonner la tournée de printemps dès le début à cause de la fracture d’un orteil, et on se demande aujourd’hui si sa condition physique lui permettra d’entrer dans la compétition qui démarre dans une douzaine de jours.
C’est dur, mais je veux y être ! Mon état s’améliore petit à petit, il faut encore que je renforce mon corps. J’ai approx. une semaine pour me concerter avec le maître [fka sekiwake Aminishiki].
Avec trois ozeki à l’affiche sous les yokozuna, le tournoi de Tokyo va devenir passionnant ! C’est l’heure de prendre ma revanche.

On Wednesday 29 April, the Ajigawa stable held a training session open to the public. Everyone’s attention was focused on Aonishiki.
After finishing the March tournament with a 7-8 record, the ozeki now faces the threat of (his first) demotion, known in sumo jargon as "kadoban" status. He had to withdraw from the spring tour right at the start due to a broken toe, and the question now is whether his physical condition will allow him to compete in the tournament starting in a fortnight’s time.
It’s tough, but I want to be there! I’m getting better bit by bit, but I still need to build up my strength. I’ve got about a week to discuss things with the master [formerly Sekiwake Aminishiki]. With three ozeki in the line-up below the yokozuna, the Tokyo tournament is set to be a real thriller! It’s time for me to get my revenge.
