Abi fête aujourd’hui ses 32 ans en compagnie de six sekitori venus s’entraîner chez Shikoroyama-beya.

Le Maegashira 9 a affronté tout le monde pendant 14 matchs, Hoshoryu l’a également défié dans un combat "spécial" qui symbolise les vœux de bonheur.

Pour le tournoi, je ne cherche pas un sumo d’une grande qualité mais je veux effacer des mémoires les dix-huit derniers mois durant lesquels je n'ai marqué 9+ victoires qu'à deux occasions. Je mettrais tout en œuvre pour gagner le maximum de points à Tokyo.

Kirishima était l’un des invités de cette séance. Il a joué 15 rencontres, et même s’il sort avec un score de 12-3 il juge n’être pas totalement prêt pour dimanche. Sa stratégie ? "Foncer dans le tas sans réfléchir". Son mentor, Otowayama-oyakata (fka Y71 Kakuryu), essaie de l’en dissuader en lui prodiguant quelques conseils… L’ozeki sera demain avec le clan Tokitsukaze pour peut-être changer de méthode 🤔.

Le yokozuna a fait une vingtaine de combats en gagnant à 17 reprises. Son cousin, le Makushita 16 Tenrosei, appartient au club d’Abi. Ensemble ils n’ont fait que des butsukari - l’exercice de poussée - et se sont rappelés de bons souvenirs lorsqu’ils étaient encore en Mongolie (photo).
