Lundi 13 juillet : premiers leaders et nouvelle chute au sommet

En ce début de semaine, le classement commence à se décanter : un groupe de douze lutteurs prend les commandes en première division, tandis que huit hommes se détachent en deuxième.

En Juryo, c’est un début de tournoi difficile pour Enho qui concède une deuxième défaite consécutive, renversé aujourd'hui par Tohakuryu.

En Makuuchi, le "néophyte" Kazuma débloque son compteur et s'offre son premier point en repoussant rapidement Asakoryu. Un peu plus tard, Shishi (2-0) réalise une belle performance en envoyant Takerufuji au sol.

Dans un duel de titans aux allures de choc animalier - loup russe vs. grizzly japonais - Takayasu (2-0) résiste à la puissance de Roga (0-2) et parvient à l'éjecter du dohyo. Hakunofuji (2-0) confirme sa bonne forme en sortant Ichiyamamoto.

Du côté des ozeki, c’est un parcours sans faute pour l'instant. Kirishima et Kotozakura (2-0) l'emportent respectivement face à Oho (0-2) et Yoshinofuji. Le yokozuna Hoshoryu (2-0) les imite en se débarrassant proprement de Takanosho (0-2).

Coup de tonnerre sur l'IG Arena : la foule a vibré lors du dernier combat de la journée. Fujinokawa a terrassé Onosato, décrochant ainsi le troisième kinboshi (étoile d'or) de sa carrière !

Le bonus Makushita : en troisième division le "Monsieur Indestructible" de l'Isegahama-beya, Asahifuji, a réussi son entrée dans la compétition en s'imposant face à Kaiseijo (Asakayama-beya).
