Samedi 25 juillet : un suspense total s’installe avant le dénouement de la compétition

À la veille de la finale du tournoi de Nagoya, le classement se décante-t-il enfin ? Dans chacune des deux divisions sekitori, les commandes ne sont plus partagées : un seul homme trône désormais au sommet.

La déception de la journée reste toutefois le forfait d’Hoshoryu (7-7), contraint à l'abandon en raison de douleurs persistantes à la cuisse et au genou. Un retrait de dernière minute qui a nettement agacé son adversaire Kirishima dans les coulisses…

En quête du titre Makushita, le prétendant Nabatame affrontait exceptionnellement Nishikigi aujourd'hui en Juryo. L'ancien komusubi ne s'est pas laissé impressionner par le visiteur et l'a sèchement repoussé. De son côté, Toshinofuji a promptement maîtrisé Tochitaikai, avant que Shonannoumi ne s'impose face à Dewanoryu. Un peu plus tard, Asasuiryu a privé Arashifuji d'une opportunité d'accrocher la tête du classement.

💥Kotoeiho a été l'un des premiers à confirmer sa place dans le peloton Makuuchi (10-4) en verrouillant parfaitement les bras d’Asanoyama. Fujiryoga l'y a rejoint en tirant parti d'une faute de pied de Takanosho, tandis que Takayasu s'est invité dans le groupe après un échange musclé de gifles face à Yoshinofuji.

⚡En fin d’après-midi, Atamifuji n'a fait qu'une bouchée de Shishi, juste avant qu’Aonishiki ne préserve son statut de leader en neutralisant Takerufuji. Enfin, soulagement pour le clan du grand champion : le yokozuna Onosato décroche de justesse son kachi-koshi (8-6) en s'imposant face à l'ozeki Kotozakura !

🥊À retenir pour la dernière journée : en Makushita (troisième division), demain s’annonce dantesque avec un play-off gigantesque réunissant sept lutteurs, tous à égalité parfaite à 6-1… "Nabs" parviendra-t-il à être sacré au terme d'une quinzaine parfaite ou Asahifuji prendra-t-il sa revanche pour effacer le tout premier revers de sa jeune carrière ?

Saturday, July 25th: total suspense sets in before the outcome of the competition

On the eve of the final of the Nagoya tournament, are the rankings finally being decided? In each of the two sekitori divisions, the controls are no longer shared: a single man now sits at the top.

The disappointment of the day, however, remains the withdrawal of Hoshoryu (7-7), forced to quit due to persistent pain in his thigh and knee. A last-minute withdrawal that clearly annoyed his opponent Kirishima behind the scenes...

In search of the Makushita title, the contender Nabatame exceptionally faced Nishikigi in Juryo today. The former komusubi did not let himself be impressed by the visitor and sharply pushed him away. For his part, Toshinofuji quickly overpowered Tochitaikai, before Shonannoumi won against Dewanoryu. A little later, Asasuiryu deprived Arashifuji of an opportunity to hang on to the top of the standings.

💥Kotoeiho was one of the first to confirm his place in the Makuuchi pack (10-4) by locking Asanoyama's arms perfectly. Fujiryoga joined him there by taking advantage of a foot fault by Takanosho, while Takayasu invited himself into the group after a heated exchange of slaps with Yoshinofuji.

⚡At the end of the afternoon, Atamifuji made short work of Shishi, just before Aonishiki preserved his leadership by neutralizing Takerufuji. Finally, relief for the clan of the great champion: the yokozuna Onosato narrowly won his kachi-koshi (8-6) against the ozeki Kotozakura!

🥊Note for the last day: in Makushita (third division), tomorrow promises to be a dantesque day with a gigantic play-off bringing together seven wrestlers, all tied at 6-1... Will "Nabs" manage to be crowned at the end of a perfect fortnight or will Asahifuji take his revenge to erase the very first setback of his young career?
