Mercredi 22 juillet : les têtes d'affiche sous pression !

À quatre jours de la conclusion du tournoi de Nagoya, le suspense est à son comble sur les podiums sekitori : chaque division ne compte désormais plus qu'un seul leader solitaire sur la plus haute marche ! La menace des poursuivants reste cependant bien réelle.

En Juryo, Arashifuji conserve les commandes en poussant Tokihayate à la faute. Quelques minutes auparavant, Toshinofuji s'est défait de Tomokaze, restant ainsi dans la course au titre face à son propre coéquipier.

En Makuuchi, le choc au sommet a tenu toutes ses promesses. Après un accrochage indécis aux allures de "valse", le lion ukrainien Shishi a fini par projeter Kotoeiho au bas du dohyo. Dans le groupe des chasseurs à 9-2, Takerufuji s'est imposé face à Asanoyama, tandis que l'expérimenté Takayasu est venu à bout d'Hakunofuji (Maegashira 3) au terme d'un duel engagé.

💥L'ambiance était encore survoltée dans l'IG Arena, poussée par les exploits du jour : Aonishiki fait un pas décisif vers son retour au rang d'ozeki après une victoire maîtrisée contre Gonoyama. Kirishima n'a laissé aucune chance à Ichiyamamoto avant qu’Atamifuji déclenche l'enthousiasme de la salle en écartant le yokozuna Onosato. En clôture, Hoshoryu a balayé Kotoshoho sur le rondin de paille pour sceller la journée.

🎲Du côté de la Makushita, Nabatame poursuit son sans-faute (6-0) en éjectant Fudoho sans ménagement. Derrière lui, son coéquipier Mita a trébuché face au surprenant Tenshoyama venu de Sandanme, tandis qu'Asahifuji reste en embuscade après son succès sur Tochikodai.

Wednesday, July 22: the headliners under pressure!

With four days to go before the conclusion of the Nagoya tournament, the suspense is at its peak on the sekitori podiums: each division now has only one sole leader on the highest step! However, the threat of the pursuers remains very real.

In Juryo, Arashifuji keeps the lead by forcing Tokihayate to make a mistake. A few minutes earlier, Toshinofuji had defeated Tomokaze, thus remaining in the title race against his own stablemate.

In Makuuchi, the clash at the top kept all its promises. After an indecisive conflict that looked like a "waltz", the Ukrainian lion Shishi ended up throwing Kotoeiho to the bottom of the dohyo. In the chasing group at 9-2, Takerufuji won against Asanoyama, while the experienced Takayasu defeated Hakunofuji (Maegashira 3) in a hard-fought duel.

💥The atmosphere was still supercharged in the IG Arena, driven by the achievements of the day: Aonishiki took a decisive stride towards his return to the ozeki status after a controlled victory against Gonoyama. Kirishima gave Ichiyamamoto no chance until Atamifuji sparked the excitement of the room by brushing aside the yokozuna Onosato. At the end, Hoshoryu swept Kotoshoho on the straw bales to seal the day.

🎲On the Makushita side, Nabatame continued his flawless run (6-0) by hastily ejecting Fudoho. Behind him, his teammate Mita stumbled against the surprising Tenshoyama coming from Sandanme, while Asahifuji remains in ambush after his success over Tochikodai.
