Plusieurs officiels sont venus ce matin chez Shikihide-beya à Tokyo pour un dernier hommage à Wakataozakura, le rikishi décédé la semaine dernière (mon article ici).

Le président Hakkaku et le yokozuna Hoshoryu étaient tous les deux présents parmi d'autres oyakata. Après un court discours, le mongol a prié ses deux tsukebito (camarades de WTZ) de prendre le temps nécessaire aux obsèques avant de revenir travailler pour lui. Il a ensuite pris la route pour le Kokugikan où les bus embarquaient les participants du jungyo. À la fin de la cérémonie, le directeur a partagé un moment émouvant avec la presse :

Lundi 14, quand on a appris son décès, une forte pluie s’est abattue sur la ville. Quand ç’eut fini, un arc-en-ciel survolait le club. Même s’il n’était pas un haut-gradé [Jonidan], on l’a vêtu comme tel car sur le plan affectif il était l’égal d’un sekitori. On se souviendra de lui comme quelqu’un de joyeux quel que soit l’endroit où il se trouvait.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Several officials came this morning to Shikihide-beya's lodgings in Tokyo for a final tribute to Wakatozakura, the rikishi who died last week (my article here).

President Hakkaku was there with the yokozuna Hoshoryu among other oyakata. After a short speech, the Mongolian asked his two tsukebito (WTZ stablemates) to take the necessary time for the funeral before returning to work with him. He then took the road to the Kokugikan where the buses picked up the jungyo participants. A the end of the ceremony, the director shared a moving moment with the press:

On Monday 14th, when we learned of his death, heavy rain fell on the city. When it was over, a rainbow flew over the stable. Even though he wasn't a high-ranked rikishi [Jonidan], we dressed him as such because emotionally he was their equal. He will be remembered as a cheerful person wherever he was.
