Taiho et l’arbitrage vidéo.

Au deuxième jour du tournoi de mars 1969, le Maegashira 1 Toda (futur komusubi Haguroiwa et instructeur Ikazuchi) met fin à la série d’invincibilités du yokozuna, 45. Cette défaite du Grand champion a beaucoup été critiquée car le pied de Toda est sorti AVANT la chute de Taiho comme vous pouvez le voir sur la photo ci-jointe >> « la plus grosse erreur d’arbitrage du vingtième siècle ». L'Association a donc décidé d’utiliser la vidéo dès le mois de mai pour éviter encore plus de scandale. Ainsi, à chaque événement, on trouve toujours deux gyoji et un responsable vidéo pour contrôler les matchs. En cas de mono-ii sur le dohyo, ils informeront le shimpan le plus gradé par oreillette.
