Les archives de l'Association présentent régulièrement l'ouverture de certains tournois du passé.
Aujourd’hui, on parle du tournoi d’automne 1983, Showa 59. On peut voir 19 matchs Makuuchi et deux Juryo pour le premier jour.
Le président Kasugano (f.k.a. Y. 44 Tochinishiki) accueillait les fans, avant que les yokozuna – Chiyonofuji, Takanosato et Kitanoumi – présentent leur dohyo-iri.
Parmi les nouveaux arrivants, on peut admirer Hoshi à 3:21 (futur Y. 61 Hokutoumi) ou encore le futur Grand champion n° 62 Onokuni qui débutait en san’yaku (18:25). À la fin de la quinzaine, Takanosato remportera son 3ᵉ championnat sur le score parfait de 15-0, deux mois après son dernier sacre.

The Association's archives: September 1983
The Association's archives regularly present the opening of certain tournaments from the past.
Today, we are talking about the 1983 autumn tournament, Showa 59. We can see 19 Makuuchi matches and two Juryo matches for the first day. President Kasugano (f.k.a. Y. 44 Tochinishiki) welcomed the fans, before the yokozuna – Chiyonofuji, Takanosato and Kitanoumi – presented their dohyo-iri. Among the newcomers, we can admire Hoshi at 3:21 (future Y. 61 Hokutoumi) or the future Grand Champion No 62 Onokuni who arrived in san'yaku (18:25). At the end of the fortnight, Takanosato won his third championship with a perfect score of 15-0, two months after his last title.
