Le haut des tableaux sekitori est bouleversé en cette fin de semaine : nous n’avons plus qu’un duo en tête de la Juryo et un homme solitaire domine la Makuuchi ! Avant le dohyo-iri, l'Association a annoncé une mauvaise nouvelle : l'ancien Maegashira 11 Daiamami (Oitekaze-beya) prend sa retraite. Pour ce tournoi, il était classé Makushita 17 mais était absent.
Il faudra un mono’ii pour attribuer la victoire à Kayo contre Dewanoryu, le disciple de la Nakamura-beya monte ainsi sur la première marche du podium provisoire. Un peu plus tard, Shonannoumi va déstabiliser Fujiseiun pour l’obliger à poser une main au sol.
Comme je le disais en introduction, Abi reste le "maître du jeu" ce soir grâce à une erreur d’Asakoryu qui met un pied à l’extérieur de la zone… La même situation se produit avec Daieisho contre Kotozakura, l’ozeki évacue la frustration du président Hakkaku après les deux derniers jours (défaites contre Ichiyamamoto puis Hakunofuji).
