On termine jeudi soir le premier acte de cette compétition, et l’échappée Makuuchi perd encore un homme…
En Juryo, on assistait au duel des leaders (photo). Après le tachi-ai, Fujiseiun va se décaler pour laisser filer le vétéran Sadanoumi droit sur Shirokuma qui attendait au pied du dohyo. L’élève de Fujishima-beya prend donc la tête de course seul après le plaquage de Dewanoryu par Nishikigi.
Après un faux-départ de son adversaire, Asanoyama ne fait qu’une bouchée de Ryuden en ouverture de la première division ! Malgré une bonne bataille, Kirishima est déstabilisé par Oho et plonge derrière la ligne…
Qui aurait pu penser qu’Abi soit dans le groupe des meneurs à ce stade ? Le disciple de feu Terao/Shikoroyama-oyakata n’avait pas connu un tel exploit (5-0 au démarrage) depuis deux ans en mars 2024 ! Il renverse aujourd’hui Chiyoshoma.

In Juryo, we witnessed the duel of the leaders (photo). After the tachi-ai, Fujiseiun shifted to let the veteran Sadanoumi go right on Shirokuma who was waiting at the foot of the dohyo. Fujishima-beya's pupil takes the lead alone after the tackle of Dewanoryu by Nishikigi.
After a false start by his opponent, Asanoyama made short work of Ryuden in the opening of the first division! Despite a good battle, Kirishima is destabilized by Oho and dives behind the line...
Who would have thought that Abi would be in the group of leaders right now? The disciple of the late Terao/Shikoroyama-oyakata had not experienced such a feat (5-0 at the start) for two years in March 2024! He is now over-throwing Chiyoshoma.
