Nous voici enfin au tout premier jour des compétitions de l’année 2026. La san’yaku s’est plutôt bien débrouillée, seuls les deux komusubi commencent avec un point noir.

Vainqueur Juryo en novembre, Fujiryoga n’a pas pu échapper aujourd’hui à Shirokuma.

Asanoyama fait son grand retour en Makuuchi mais malheureusement Oshoumi le tire au sol… Bien qu’il ait modifié son shikona, Hakunofuji reste le même homme en propulsant Oho derrière la ligne.

Aonishiki entame très bien son statut d’ozeki, il déjoue les ruses d’Ura pour le faire sortir de la zone. Les yokozuna démarrent eux aussi en force. Onosato ne laisse aucune chance à Ichiyamamoto avant qu’Hoshoryu prenne sa revanche sur le kinboshi de novembre contre Wakamotoharu.
