Dimanche, nous voici déjà au nakabi de ce tournoi de printemps ! Les compteurs kachi-koshi n’ont pas encore été déclenchés, mais plusieurs make-koshi sont apparus... Dans la matinée, Shikoroyama-oyakata nous a informé du retour d’Abi (0-3-5), son dos est-il suffisamment en forme pour revenir dans la compétition ?

En Juryo, Kazuma reprend sa place dans l’échappée en expulsant Kotokuzan après une série de gifles. Plus tard, Kayo bataillera durement pour sortir Wakanosho.

En Makuuchi, Gonoyama remporte le sixième face-à-face de la "rivalité 山" (lisez yama ou san) contre Kinbozan et reste donc un prétendant au trophée.

En remontant le banzuke, on assiste au vingt-deuxième duel des anciens ozeki. Après un long moment statique, Kirishima réussit à faire basculer Takayasu. Selon certains, Aonishiki s’est blessé au pied hier contre Atamifuji, l’ukrainien encaisse maintenant sa cinquième défaite contre Takanosho et frôle dangereusement le statut kadoban…

On termine cette journée avec Daieisho, qui décroche un nouveau kinboshi du yokozuna Hoshoryu !

NB : Midorifuji a déclaré forfait avant le tournoi. Abi avait abandonné au J3 et Onosato le lendemain.
