Le moment est enfin venu, le sumo est de retour pour une quinzaine qui sera sans aucun doute spectaculaire une fois encore.
L'absence de Kotoshoho bouleverse les deux tableaux sekitori, ce qui permet à Kitanowaka de revenir le temps d'un match mais Mudoho le repousse derrière la ligne. Juste après, Mita fera de même avec Daiamami.
En Makuuchi, Tamawashi remporte la 40e manche dans sa rivalité contre Takayasu, mais le grizzly reste dominant à 21-19. Plus tard, Onosato sort rapidement Wakamotoharu avant qu'Hoshoryu s'occupe de Wakatakakage pour conclure la journée.
Le premier bonus de ce tournoi d'été revient à Asanoyama en Makushita ! Vainqueur à Osaka en mars, il se débarrasse aujourd'hui de Chiyotora.

Kotoshoho's absence upsets both sekitori tables, which allowed Kitanowaka to come back for a match, but Mudoho pushed him back behind the line. A few minutes after, Mita will do the same with Daiamami.
