Mardi 21 juillet : les leaders résistent mais les poursuivants montent en puissance

Le deuxième tiers du tournoi de Nagoya s'achève sur un rythme toujours aussi intense. Si le leader Juryo maintient son avance, la tête de la Makuuchi se resserre à nouveau autour d'un duo.

En deuxième division, Arashifuji consolide sa première place provisoire après avoir écarté Tamashoho. Il devra toutefois surveiller de près Toshinofuji : l'ancien disciple de Hakuho/Miyagino a décroché son kachi-koshi (huitième victoire) en battant Sadanoumi.

En première ligue, Kotoeiho conserve sa position de coleader en déjouant le henka d'Abi. Un peu plus tôt, Asahakuryu a rapidement pris la mesure de Shishi, le faisant rétrograder dans le peloton à 8-2. Un groupe où figure également Asanoyama, victorieux de Fujiseiun.

⚡Fidèle à lui-même, Takayasu reste une menace sérieuse pour le titre après sa victoire sur Tobizaru. Du côté des ozeki, la journée a été prolifique : Kirishima a repoussé Hakunofuji, tandis que Kotozakura a projeté Oho au sol.

💥Après quelques journées mitigées, Aonishiki se rapproche à grands pas d'un retour sur la deuxième marche de la hiérarchie en s'imposant aujourd'hui face à Hoshoryu, laissant le yokozuna à un bilan décevant de 6-4. Enfin, la journée s'est conclue sur la victoire de l'autre Grand champion Onosato face à Daieisho.

Tuesday, July 21: the leaders resist while the pursuers increase their strength

The second third of the Nagoya tournament ended at a pace that was as intense as ever. If the Juryo leader maintains his advance, the Makuuchi's head is once again tightened around a duo.

In the second division, Arashifuji consolidated his provisional first place after dismissing Tamashoho. However, he will have to keep a close eye on Toshinofuji: the former disciple of Hakuho/Miyagino got his kachi-koshi (eighth victory) by beating Sadanoumi.

In the first league, Kotoeiho maintains his position as co-leader by thwarting Abi's henka. Earlier, Asahakuryu quickly got the better of Shishi, dropping him down the 8-2 pack. A group that also includes Asanoyama, victorious over Fujiseiun.

⚡True to form, Takayasu remains a serious threat to the title after his victory over Tobizaru. It was a prolific day for the ozeki: Kirishima pushed Hakunofuji away, while Kotozakura threw Oho to the ground.

💥After a few mixed days, Aonishiki is fast approaching a return to the second step of the hierarchy by winning today against Hoshoryu, leaving the yokozuna with a disappointing 6-4 record. Finally, the day ended with the victory of the other Grand champion Onosato against Daieisho.
